I also think this might be the first Disney Princess (Pixar Princess?) type character who was not sexualized in any way. She was female, but she wasn't a pin-up model. I have a hard time thinking of any spunky tom-boy princess character who wouldn't have also passed for a supermodel.

generally speaking... Mulan

...and I'm not quite sure how this Disney Princess was not sexualized... she had tits and wore tight clothing... was I not watching the same movie?

Johnny Unusual

Apparently, you didn't as I didn't get a hint of the character being seen as a sexual being, merely as a romantic one (in the sense that she has adventure in her heart, rather than is pining for love.  That said, I actually can only think of one or 2 Disney princesses that strike me as particularly sexy (Ariel and Jasmine, but that might just be that there's navel).  Maybe rather than "non-sexual" you mean person of a body that doesn't come off as an idealized

Saw the movie the other night.  Like a lot of people, I liked it but didn't love it.  Better than most non-Pixar movies (Dreamworks and plain vanilla Disney is catching up, but still not at the same level, Cars 2 excluded), but that's what you expect (granted, it not like it was surprising per se, but the main thrust of the story was a mystery to me).  Still, aside from the setting and the character, I only had a vague idea of where the story was going, and I liked that.

The Witch (who was certainly the most out-there character in a relatively down-to-Earth fairy tale, if such a thing exists) definitely stole the show for me, especially with the "wood carver" exchange, which provided some great old fashions visual gags.

La Luna was not there best short, but it was certainly great.  I think Disney needs to commission more short before the movie.  The Toy Story short was a very pleasant surprise before the Muppets.

And now we look forward to Monsters University.

I also thought the witch was great... altho her 'answering machine' schtick was something straight out of Shrek...

Personally, I am looking forward to the Monsters Inc prequel, because those are characters that I enjoy watching.

She's a CGIed Lily Cole, who is an actual supermodel, I mean, they might not have directly based her on Lily, but that's what they ended up with.

The tie-in doll looks like a PVC Karen Gillan though.
