If your children see it, they'll go out and chop their legs off to get assault rifle prosthetics.

Heck, I've only seen the trailer, I'm not sure if I wanna see the movie, and even _I_ want assault rifle prosthetics. :^)

QuoteSo, if Joe Bankrobber had never seen the movie "Guy Robs A Bank" he wouldn't rob banks in real life?

Im not implying anything of the kind.  Im merely stating that to say NO ONE is confused or affected by what they see is as lunatic as saying EVERYONE is effected by what they see.

Remember back in school, when some jerk got up to no good, and the teacher couldn't figure out who it was, so she just punished everybody? It's the same thing. It's that kind of slippery slope. If you start to blame entertainment for society's ills, eventually you end up with that "Itchy & Scratchy" episode where they just sit in rocking chairs sipping lemonade.

Bravo sir.

QuoteBut since we're not into relativism here, one of the two groups that were able to form an opinion is right, so there IS a chance that J-Proof's statement is absolutely correct.. :^)

I totally agree lol.

QuoteIt's too bad, tough - Guy Robs A Bank is an awesome flick.)

wasnt that movie originally called the great train robbery?  aka the first real movie?

How can you convey to an impressionable mind that an idea is bad, if you can't convey the idea itself? It would be like saying, "Son, don't sin." "What's a sin, daddy?" "Something you should not do."

I'm referring to these idea of these actions being acceptable, not it's existence.  I think violence is very appropriate when it shows the consequences of dangerous activity, like shooting people, crashing a car, bombing a factory.

You make a valid point here. I remember seeing an interview with someone (It may have been Tom Savini, I'm not sure) that basically put forth this argument.
Which would you rather see portrayed. TV level of violence, where someone gets shot, no blood and just falls down dead.
OR
Someone gets shot, they start bleeding, and then collapes and bleed out. Or someone gets their head blown off and bits of brain and gore are all over the wall behind them.

Violence, when portrayed realistically, I think helps as a derterrent to violence. If , and I am speaking about impressionable minds mostly here, one sees that killing someone is just putting your hands around someone's throat for 30 seconds and they 'go to sleep' makes it seem like less of a big deal. In actuality, it takes several minutes to choke someone to death. There is major discoloration of the face and the violent death jerks make it a horrible death. No I don't mean for people to show 6 year olds Hostel or anything by this at all, but I am saying that the impressionable minds should be made aware that violence is an ugly amd nasty thing. It's not heroic, it's not pretty and it's not acceptable. For everyone else, seeing violence (if that is their choice) is a valid entertainment choice that has been catered to thoughout the centuries. It's a deep rooted human desire apparently and will likely not just vanish or be bred out of us anytime soon.

oh yeah and Grindhouse is going to ROCK!
Grapes? I hate grapes, I can't stand grapes. I loathe grapes. All kinds of grapes. I hate green grapes and I hate purple grapes. I hate grapes with seeds, I hate grapes without seeds. I hate them peeled and nonpeeled. I hate them in bunches, one at a time and in small groups of twos and threes.

GOOD NEWS EVERYBODY!

The Grindhouse is officially open for business as the dreaded MPAA just gave Dimension's upcoming film an R rating for "strong graphic bloody violence and gore, pervasive language, some sexuality, nudity and drug use." We're going to look into just how much was cut from the film, but this is great news considering it sounded like an NC-17 was inevitable. I guess the fact that Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez could cut entire scenes from their movies (like in a real Grind House) could be the reason?.

From Ain't It Cool News:

QuoteI just got off the phone with Rodriguez - who is celebrating getting his R-rating for the double feature without having to sacrifice much of anything. He only lost part of a brain-eating scene and Quentin only lost part of one of the crash scenes. So the big story in THE NY POST about the film facing massive problems - was bullshit. So there ya go...
This iRiff will only be on sale for another few hours. Get it while it's cheap!

I can safely say that, thanks to the cinematic excrement that was Hannibal, I've seen more than enough brain-eating in film.

ScottotD

really? I literally fell out of my seat laughing at that scene.

I don't get what point Issac was trying to make however.

But I'm reasonably sure the filmmakers didn't want you to.

He was just informing us that Grindhouse got an R without heavy cuts. Good news for us bloodthirsty freaks.

See, I'm not too sure.  That movie did seem to have an oddly humorous tone but regardless if anything it made me look forward to more brain eating in the future.

Yeah isn't that Patton Oswalt? Someone did a review for 300 that sounded just like that, and it turned out to be Patton. Hilarious stuff, and of course IMO his 300 review was dead-on.
