The trailer is out for this.

Based on all that i have heard so far it does not look wholly accurate, but it seems to still fascinate me.

Doctor Who?

I can't watch the trailer so who is going to be wearing the dress in this movie.

No one, thank god.  Oliver Stone go suck an egg.

Supposedly, J Edgar being a crossdresser was a myth.

I stand by my joke. Let's face it a world where he was a crossdresser is a lot more funny then a world where he wasn't.

Yup.  It absolutely was.  The movie apparently is going ahead with the idea that he was gay.  I am just waiting to see if they make it overt or not.

I don't know much about Hoover, so if you could explain what looks hyperbolic and inaccurate that would be appreciated :)

Looks like is gonna get another Oscar Nom. Maybe he will finally win

That probably means he'll be a racist too... unless that aspect of his personality was also a myth,
but I doubt they would insert a factoid like that in a Metal Gear Solid game without making sure it
was true.

The reason i am interested in it still is that it does not look hyperbolic.  The innacurate thing is the gay issue.  The evidence supporting the idea he and his #2 were lovers is both scant and suspect, especially since we know there was an active campaign by the KGB to discredit Hoover by making the public beleive he was gay.

I really think Hoover is interesting and would love to see more stuff come out about him and his VERY long time in his position.  Im sure there are good biographies out there about him, but i really have not sat down and begin to read them.

There is a LOT stronger evidence to suggest he was a racist (not that it would be unusual for his time) but i do not know.

He was a white man in the first half of the 20th century. In other words yes,he was a racist.

What a bizaarly racist thing to say.

Oh come on,even the people who worked against racism would say racist thinks. It was the culture back then. No body believe that people who were not white could do things as well as whites.

Even a cursory glance through the history books is rife with examples of where that is just not true.  Although im sure it was a pretty common feeling among white dominant societies.

I dunno, the Emancipation proclamation was around for a while before the 20th century, wasn't it?
I'm sure there were many religious types who also believed that people of all races were equal.

Power Faith and fantasy ( a history of the U.S. involvement in the middle east from 1776 to present) mentions a few pastors who railed against the evils of slavery and the treatment of blacks back in the 1800s.
