Not sure if it means anything, but I wasn't a fan of the mother/r-word comment either

This has to be bullshit, right? Right??? Eh, probably not.

QuoteUPDATE: I have received confirmation from a trusted source that this is all TRUE.

UPDATE 2: I have confirmed that a second audio change, embedded below, is also TRUE. Also, I've confirmed that the Ewoks now blink in Return of the Jedi.

Some review copies of the Star Wars Blu-rays have gone out to very select outlets (many of your favorite websites have been denied copies of the Blu by Lucasfilm), and a rumor has been tearing up the internet: among the tweaks George Lucas made to the Original Trilogy was adding Vader saying 'Noooo!' as the Emperor electrocutes Luke in Return of the Jedi.

It's hard to believe this because Vader crying 'Noooo!' was one of the most widely derided aspects of Revenge of the Sith. It's easy to believe because Lucas is so out of touch and loves the idea of on the nose symmetry between the two trilogies.

What is purported to be an audio recording of the scene has hit the web, and someone has timed it to the original scene in Jedi so that you can get a sense of how this supposedly works. I've embedded that below. It's actually two 'No's, and it doesn't sound exactly like the one from Sith, but similar.

Again, this could easily be a fake. If anyone reading this has access to the Star Wars Blus and can clear this up, get in contact.

Wow,as if I didn't have enough reasons not to buy this set.

The Obi-Wan call sounds like a man frightened by a mouse and then being devoured by said mouse.

And the Vader one (if true), oh man. Apparently, Lucas just can't help himself.

If the Vader scream is true, I'm guessing it's to tie it in with the ending of III.  Lucas seems hell-bent in making sure the events of the first three parallel the major events of Wars, Empire, and Jedi.

And you know what?  The only reason I'm not particularly fine with these changes is that they're still not including the original versions.  I heard Metropolis is being re-released with the Giorgio Mororder music and 90-minute cut, and people are actually excited about it...mostly because you can buy Metropolis restored in its original state.  If the originals were available, I don't think a person in the world would have a problem with the Special Editions and the tweaks and changes...it's only because we're forced to watch these cuts or else.

Hell, as ugly as the original version looked, I'm not even really happy that they took out puppet Yoda in Ep. 1, since THAT version would be gone "forever," too.  What, just because people don't like it doesn't mean it deserves to be fiddled with any more than the beloved versions do.  I'd be just as appalled if Sam Raimi took the "American" cut of Army of Darkness off the market just because he preferred the "International" cut's ending...heck, it's one of the few times that, despite lacking some footage, I actually LIKE the shorter cut better.  Ridley Scott's "Legend," too.  I tend to think Ridley Scott is a little full of himself on commentary tracks, but the man's smart enough to know we want both versions if they're available, even if he himself prefers one over the other, and I admire him for that.

If Lucas only realized he could fiddle with his Special Editions all he wanted to and we wouldn't care one whit, just as long as the untouched ones were made available.  I don't remember if that argument was made here or on another forum I was reading, but I stand by that.

I believe it's been said at least once that it will not be purchased unless the non-SE editions are included. I haven't said that outright, but this is my thinking as well.

For all I care, Lucas can CGI Jar Jar into every scene of the SEs; that's his trip. But like you said, we shouldn't be forced to either watch them or watch nothing at all. Of course, adding the non-SEs would make for three more BDs and jack up the price. It's too bad. I want to see all six original cuts in HD, and thankfully, as has also been mentioned, viewing alternatives will probably eventually be made available.

Besides, "they already got my $7!"

This doesn't have much to do with the DVD's, but I've found an odd little corner of the internet.  This guy who calls himself "Supershadow" has a website which claims to have access to the scripts of Episodes 7, 8, and 9 of the Star Wars saga, and furthermore, that noneother than George Lucas himself is a regular contributor to the site, who answers questions directly from fans.  If this sounds too good to be true, just read a little bit of the correspondence between George and the fans, and you'll realize that, yeah, there's no way this is actually George Lucas.  The most obvious reasons are that George keeps plugging Supershadow's site, whereas the real George would probably direct people to StarWars.com, and also when fans write in with suggestions for possible plot points for the "sequel trilogy", Mr. "Lucas" says that he'll consider putting them in, whereas the real George Lucas would realize the legal implications of implementing an unsolicited suggestion from a fan into his script, and would probably respond to any such input saying something like "Unfortunately, for legal reasons, I cannot take unsolicited input from fans."

I hesitate to post a direct link because the site is probably crawling with viruses and adware, but if you're brave enough to risk it, just look up Supershadow on Google, and witness a fantasy world more elaborate than the Star Trek fanfic universe of Stephen B. Ratliff.

On second thought, Supershadow reminds me more of the Agent Action guy.

Whoa, Supershadow's still around? I remember when he was claiming to have the script to the then-upcoming Episode III.
