Just cancelled my Sunday ticket. I told them that new people get it for free so I was not going to pay for it. They said they could not offer me any discounts until they were sure if there would be a season.   I told them that makes no sense, so just drop the service and I would be dropping DirecTV (which I had since 1996) unless they could match U-verse on price. So, bottom line they agreed and my bill went from 148 to 107 (yes, I have a lot of stuff!) monthly.

They will also be sending me an upgraded HD DVR at no cost and will NOT make me commit to a new 24 month agreement.

I encourage you all to do the same if you are REALLY ready to drop the package and DirecTV too.

So, i will not be able to see any Rams road games or home games that I cannot fly into STL for.

Probably should tell the Rams that this will be my last year for season tickets.

Congrats NFL Owners and Players, your pie just shrunk a bit.

Now if more fans did the same.

We've had our fill with DirecTV over the years and even my parents dropped them like a bad habit..
I'm not in the country during a 1/3 of the NFL season anyways so the NFL Sunday Ticket wasn't really worth it to me..
Plus I have some serious tree issues in the neighbor's yard that DirecTV couldn't resolve anywhere in my yard so no biggie for me 8)

LETS GET IT ON!!!

QuoteAttorneys for NFL, Players Meet in New York Ahead of Special Meeting

Published July 18, 2011

NEW YORK –  Attorneys for the NFL Players Association and the league are hopeful they're nearing the goal line of the four-month lockout.

Both parties are meeting on Monday at a Manhattan law firm to try and finalize an agreement to get NFL players back on the field.

The court-appointed mediator, U.S. Magistrate Judge Arthur Boylan, is expected to arrive in New York later Monday to oversee talks aimed at ending the NFL's first work stoppage since 1987.

The owners have a special meeting set for Thursday in Atlanta, where they potentially could ratify a new deal -- if one is reached by then. Any agreement also must be voted on by groups of players, including the named plaintiffs in a federal antitrust suit against the league, and the NFLPA's 32 team representatives.

Resolution of the proposed deal could open in training camps on time, meaning no delay to the start of the 2011 season and no loss of tickets for season-ticket holders. The first scheduled preseason game between the Chicago Bears and St. Louis Rams is Aug. 7 in Canton, Ohio.

I hope they cancel the stupid hall of fame game.   There is NO WAY to have an agreement in place by the 25th, and in two weeks, sign free agents, draft picks, get to training camp and in 14 days have a game.   That is a recipe for injuries and wasting time of the paying fans....... but since when have the owners cared about the fans.

I was to young to remember the last time there was a lock out  ( i think)  but do you think if there was this year they would hire replacements again?

That was never an option as the networks said they would not air replacement games.   No TV revenue for owners = no fake games.

BOOOOO!  i would in a lot of ways be more interested in fake games.  More things that would happen at random.

QuoteBREAKING NEWS!
Sources: NFL Players Agree to Deal to End Lockout

Published July 25, 2011

WASHINGTON –  Two people familiar with the negotiations tell The Associated Press that the NFL and players have reached a deal to end the lockout.

The people spoke on condition of anonymity because the process is supposed to remain secret and no formal announcement has been made.

The NFL Players Association's executive committee is meeting Monday and is expected to begin the voting process. Owners overwhelmingly approved a proposal last week, but some unresolved issues still needed to be figured out to satisfy players.

The sides worked through the weekend, finally finishing the deal Monday morning, one of the people told the AP.

The league's old labor deal expired in March, and the owners locked out the players, the NFL's first work stoppage since 1987.
