I have watched the RIfftrack for Cocktail and Top Gun on VHS and it was fine... :)

But it will not work for Episode I, the VHS release is different. I had to go rent  :'(
The snyc works great with VHS though, long as its the same release as what they riffed to

Yeah, I see what MontyServo and CailtyssRulien mean about Star Wars Ep. I.  (Like starfighter, I had to finagle the sinc during the pod race, but that was it).

But again, this wasn't VHS's fault! 8)

The RifftTrax folks should totally push VHS more.

I hope you know that in a couple years you won't even be able to watch VHS tapes anymore!! Unless you keep your analog TV on hand, that is, but who would want to do that?? You'll be shunned by the masses. No one will like you!

VHS is dying faster than Farrah Fawcett at the William Shatner Roast!
Embrace the future!

;D

It's not that the TV won't be able to play VHS, but that the tapes themselves will deteriorate before "analog" TVs will be "obsolete" (which will not happen in "our" (or our great-grandchildren's future)) since "digital" TV will long be compatabale with analog.

we'll, I own and confirm that these work

Star Trek VI ... very minor re sync needed towards the end of the movie
The Fifth Element*
Top Gun
Road House (synch from first disemb. line)
Cocktail
Point Break*
Daredevil*
X-men*
Lord of the rings* ... is very annoying to sync because the split tracks but it does work
Reign of Fire*
The Matrix *

* = movies I own on dvd as well ... hehe I have a bit of a rifftrax problem huh?  ;D

so far I'm in the lead sweet! I also bought the episode 1 VHS, but never tried it because of the negative responce (I have it on dvd also). Another funny thing is that virtually everytime I'm searching through the pawn shop I notice copies of Crossroads but I bought it on DVD, should I really endure the embarrassment of buying this movie again? well, I'd also like to point out that VHS works better in the audio department as the sfx sound quality seems more subdued than dvd, which means better Riff enjoyment.

I can add Halloween and Troll 2 to that list, although there are some jokes in Halloween that fall off screen if you're not watching letterbox. :^)

Hell, in a few years you'll probably have to replace your Blu-Ray and HD-DVD discs with Super-Duper3D HD Smell-O-Vision discs and players.  Male and female LuvDolls optional.

Yeah, I don't want a smell-o-vision version of Over the Top. :^)

Hey Smell-O-Vision wouldn't be that much of an improvement for ant Riffed movie, as they ALL would stink.  and the stench would be that of really, really bad cheese...

Tape is mostly what I have too.  Star Trek five was only a dollar where I got it!
(I actually enjoyed the movie beforehand too, but I'd sooner shell out VHS prices for some)

Let's kick the tires and light the fires, big daddy!

Of course the VHS movie and mp3 rifftrax combination works fine, but try a real challegne: LaserDisc movie and 45rpm rifftrax!
