Might as well start this thread way ahead of time as there is a lot of news back and forth about the NFL Lockout; Lockout lifted, Appeals, etc.

So, I'm still predicting a 2011 NFL season will be had 8)

Bob

Oh, of course they will have a season...... gotta get Cam Newton and Jimmy Clausen to have that training camp cage match to determine who gets to wear number 2.

They will probably come up with a new agreement in mid-August and have a frenzied free agent period and shortened training camp.

And if not....... hello college football!

Let's start off with this Dumbass..

QuoteSteelers Running Back Creates Stir Over Tweets on Bin Laden's Death

Published May 03, 2011

PITTSBURGH -- Rashard Mendenhall has created a stir with comments made on his official Twitter page regarding Usama bin Laden's death.

The Pittsburgh Steelers running back on Monday tweeted: "What kind of person celebrates death? It's amazing how people can HATE a man they have never even heard speak. We've only heard one side..."

Mendenhall didn't hold back, even making a reference to the Sept. 11 attacks.

"We'll never know what really happened. I just have a hard time believing a plane could take a skyscraper down demolition style."

The Steelers felt compelled to act. On Tuesday, team president Art Rooney II released a statement.

"I have not spoken with Rashard, so it is hard to explain or even comprehend what he meant with his recent Twitter comments. The entire Steelers organization is very proud of the job our military personnel have done and we can only hope this leads to our troops coming home soon."

Mendenhall, who profiles himself as a "conversationalist and professional athlete" on his Twitter page, turned some heads in March, as well, when he supported a comment by Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson comparing the NFL to "modern-day slavery."

"Anyone with knowledge of the slave trade and the NFL could say that these two parallel eachother," Mendenhall posted at the time.

Mendenhall is coming off a tremendous season, as he led the AFC champions in carries (324), rushing yards (1,273) and rushing touchdowns (13). He has 2,439 yards in three seasons since being drafted in the 2008 first round out of Illinois.

Among his other bin Laden tweets:

"I believe in God. I believe we're ALL his children. And I believe HE is the ONE and ONLY judge."

"Those who judge others, will also be judged themselves."

"For those of you who said you want to see Bin Laden burn ... I ask how would God feel about your heart?"

"There is not an ignorant bone in my body. I just encourage you to think."

Slavery.. REALLY ???
I would end your contract right now, apologize for your 'slavery' feeling, and send your ass off to find a real job!! ::)

Bob

Let's just say that he was not an academic all American at Illinois.

It isn't NFL-related, but it's football. You've gotta check out this out...

Alright, the door's open at LT! Wow, yet another shithead working for ESPN. That cannot be coincidental.

Hey RAD, looks like some of the local Houston sports radio guys share your thoughts on ESPN...

Shawn Pendergast:  Expect ESPN to follow up this story with impact of Tractor Traylor's death on his PuertoRico league team 8 man rotation

:gouge:

I'm almost tempted to tune into ESPN's "Up All Night w/ Jason Smith" to see if he mentions any of this. He's one of the few good guys at ESPN, and it wouldn't surprise me if he did w/o any damage control in tow.

However, the irony of it all isn't lost on me as I'm assuming there's a door open at ESPN where Albert Lin once worked earlier today. And where's the editor in all of this? Shitheads, ahoy.

And today, since the billionaire owners of the Arizona Cardinals must need tip money, he is forcing all non-contract (e.g. office workers) to take a one week unpaid "furlow".   This after cutting all their pay 35%.

Rich mother fuckers.   I fucking hope Kharma pays him back and FAST.

Before I renewed my Rams season tickets, I contacted them to ensure they were not going to do this to their employees.   The team VP e-mailed me back (and later called me) to say they would not be doing that.

Looks like DirecTV is getting tired of irate fans calling up and cancelling their NFL Sunday Ticket and and this note out to everyone.   Also, for people renewing, if you call and say you are going to cancel, they will knock $25 off each payment (that is what they have done the past few years).   This year, I am going to demand more than that off, or I will cancel.   And if I drop the Sunday Ticket, then I no longer need DirecTV and I should switch over to U-verse (since I have phone and internet with them).   I can probably get a free DVR upgrade and some other dollars knocked off.   Otherwise, DirecTV gets ZERO from me.

Don't worry fans—you won't pay until they play
