Amazon has really been marking down the Blu rays. I have seen a few times the BD being cheaper than the DVD.

The only thing I see is that the standard version comes out in  less than a couple weeks where the Blu-Ray comes out 2 months later on July 19..
Maybe this is their way of making  $3 more for those impatient ones (like me) on the earlier release :-\

I think that there is a big push lately to get people to buy Blu...prices on players are falling like crazy and Amazon does sometimes sell them for cheaper than DVD.  I think the reasoning is that they want to start phasing out DVD and get more people on board to Blu well before the next generation of television stuff comes out.  And all the players play DVDs, too, so it's a "What is there to lose by upgrading?" sort of mentality in the seller's market.

Me personally, in recent years I only bought stuff on DVD if I figured there was no chance of it coming on out Blu, like the Rifftrax discs.  But if they started making them all on Blu, I'd probably replace my DVDs (yes, I am like that, I'll get it out of the way).  I really do appreciate the detail, even on grainy, low-grade crapulence like Reefer Madness.  Now, if only Plan 9 and the Christmas shorts would come out, too...
One Man Band Riffs.  18 riffs, over 600 served, since 2009.

To what end? Unless he is just going for quantity of episodes on a single disc, there is absolutely no point.

Well, better image quality and uncompressed sound for one, assuming they are BD standard quality.

Unless he is going to get some 1 inch masters from Best Brains the PQ won't be any better than the original VHS tape it was recorded on.

Maybe...I'll definitely check it out before I pass judgment. There are some pretty nice SD to BD conversion tools out there. Super expensive tools  :)

I found out it uses super-resolution technology to better the picture. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Super-resolution
