Yeah I forgot, being nice to the people who make the rifftrax and understanding that sometimes thing can go wrong and it is no fun being yelled at is both stupid and rude :-\

Get over yourself. Download the Rifftrax.

Well Doc. Who did have some good points here. You people really are too impatient. Granted, I'm impatient with things too, but still....

Doctor Who?

Well here is the problem when it comes to digital products, they rely on computers to make and make them work.  Just try running your computer for a week with out some little glitch coming up that you have to fix,did you see that glitch coming a week ago.  now you have to multiply the complexity of running programs on your computer by about a thousand and you get some idea of how hard it is to make a glitch free digital product.  Maybe i just have more insight into this then most but i have a friend who debugs video games and other digital product for a living and you will not believe how hard it is or how many times he things he is done with something only to find a glitch when running the product.

Also again i don't see it as a failure that the products are not out at midnight, they have never given mid night as the time of a release in an add,so it is not a big deal.

in future I think they should run the standard disclaimer in their adds that states 'Release date subject to change with out notice.",that way people will not feel ripped off if it takes a few hours to get the release out the door.

RVR II

So like it finally got released after 8pm here.. THANKS GUYS!! 8)

My computer has been running constantly for over 5 months without any glitches.  Previous reboot was simply done to clear out any memory that may not have been re-allocated back to system control and to allow software updates to effect.

what does that mean?  You are the ones demanding the release right and midnight and saying that they should see problems coming before they have any way to know if there is a problem.

I am showing understanding for other people.  you are acting like the world is ending if you can't buy an MP3 at midnight.  you are the one who can;t see anything but yourself and i am the one who needs to get over himself?

Also Downloading a rifftrax takes nine hours on my internet connection and I have an iPod that i can't use until saturday when i go to a friend's house to reset it and you think you have problems just because to your mind a MP3 file was released 18 hours late?

I mean wow.

Maybe you should try taking your own advice before trying to give me any.

Oh and you don't need to reply to this post calling me insane just because i showed some understanding for the people who worked at Rifftrax,I'll do it myself.

Well that is our insane Doctor Who,he should be locked up for not agreeing with me.

he is the dumbest person on the planet.

There saved you the trouble.

I know, right?

Doc, quote me. Find where I said anything about this riff being late, and I'll say you were right. I'll eat my hat. Quote me, Doc.

When it comes to business Remember.. 'Customers are always right'  :o

If you've ever dealt with a customer, you quickly realize this is quite possibly one of the most untrue things anyone has ever said.

Conor

I don't think that we've ever missed a release date.  We've also never released anything at midnight on the day of.  You shouldn't have any other expectation other than that it will be out the day we say it will, any number of things could factor into it being released an hour or two earlier or later in the day.

I run my own business Conor.. And this was actually mentioned in one of my business courses with regard to customers!

Communication speaks volumes in business.

Conor

Well, I think that it's not unfair to say that our communication is better and accessible than most any other business you can think of.  However, since there was no problem on our end, you can't blame us for not reacting as if there was an emergency.  If the expectation was of a noon release, and that was not met, I don't know what to tell you.  The track doesn't have Tom Hanks on it either, I hope you're not outraged if you thought that it would.

Ignoring what kind of a professor would incorporate such a boldfaced cliche into a lecture, I can think of a couple examples where our customers have been wrong:

1.  That guy Issac.  He harassed other customers and wasted our time.  His 3.99 didn't give him the right to make other peoples experiences on the site worse.  He wasn't right, he was a dick.

2.  The people who write into support berating the person they've never met who receives the email, using profanity and general horrible behavior.  They are welcome to a refund, even though they were probably just unable to figure out how to unzip something.  3.99 isn't worth it for that person to have to be abused.  They're not right either, they're a dick.

3.  We have plenty of customers who decide they should go to a great deal of effort to distribute our riffs to complete strangers within days of its release.  Those guys aren't right either, they're dicks.

99% of our customers and fans aren't dicks and most of them are awesome.  But just by virtue of being a customer doesn't give you the right to be one.

RVR II

There was No expectations.. ??? Just the observation that as time passed, there was no communication from the 'reps' with full knowledge being relayed to the waiting fans what the delay was..
A simple "Hey guys. We've run into a snag with our usual afternoon release time frame due to some unforeseen circumstances so we just wanted to let you know that we'll get this on out to you as soon as possible."
We understand things happen; it's being in the dark with no input what so ever then just a brash response once released after 8pm EST that someone even has the Gaul to question what the hold up is..

Oh I've heard much more 'radical' BS from professors in my time and not that I take that particular quote to heart (cause I really don't), but if a customer asks what's going on with their tax refund (cause that's what I do for a living), they don't call the IRS, they call me and bitch at me thinking it's my fault and my response is 'let me look into it for you and get back to you on that'  -- Not just leave them hanging with no response and in return those customers come back to my office next year and even bring more customers with them cause I didn't blow them off.

Isaac is completely understandable and he was a dick but don't compare me to him by any means.

If simply requesting some information as to what's going on makes me a dick in your eyes, so be it. Sorry for intruding on your time but questions like that are fair game to ask when a there hasn't been a release by 5pm, 6pm, even After 8pm.

Well, Doc, I'm with you on this one.

Besides, if they devoted an hour to collective Twitter or Facebook updates saying "there's a delay", that only would have pushed the delay back an hour further.

Besides, this was one of the shortest advance notices of a new Rifftrax I can think of. Sometimes they're announced months in advance. Yet another reason for leniency, imo.

I understand. But:

1. Any announcement of delay would have lengthened the delay. If they took time off to address everything by everyone, the riff would've been pushed into tomorrow.
2. I'm not a Rifftrax representative, however, I repeatedly posted about how this delay was related to this business with the 2 cuts of the film. It was only a few days ago that Conor announced "The riff will be available for both versions." Which means, as far as I know, they've spent a lot of time editing the riff of the Director's cut to make it work with the shorter Theatrical Cut. I'm sure this riff would have been on time had they said "Fuck it, we're sticking with the out of print director's cut. Anyone who doesn't own it has to track down a used copy on Ebay or Amazon." So then the riff would have been on time, but screwed over anyone who went and bought the current theatrical cut DVD.

(Though I do wish a rep would say if my attempts to explain the situation were correct or not. I'm trying to be an empath, not an apologist.)

I think this thread should disabuse the notion of "Rifftrax pre-orders". Imagine how much worse this wait would have been if people had already paid for it. "I PAID for it with the expectation of Tuesday afternoon, dargarnit! I demand a price reduction for my panic. And to get my next Rifftrax free. Coupon?"

I do have a question, Conor. The 4 minutes of riff content you had to edit out for the Theatrical Cut, did you happen to save them? I think it would be neat if you assembled the 4 minutes of Rifftrax cuts as a bonus MP3 or something, even if it ends up a chaotic nonsensical soundbyte. I'd love to listen to that.  8)

Hell, I'd love to see a video montage of Extended-only riffs, but that's probably a bit too demanding. Unless any of you Youtube folk are up to the challenge.  >:D

GASP!?  i was told by someone i cant remember that both tom hanks AND lewis carrol were guest riffers on this 37 cent special riff.  Im outraged.

Hey connor i hope you read these posts, because A) its nice to be able to communicate with the people who bring me a product i so thouroughly enjoy  B)  its probably good to get feedback you dont like from time to time.  It helps you be mindful of something you might not if all feed back was sunshine and roses.

Ive got a mind swimming in some captain p stock so i hope i make sense.  Also i just want to say thanks to you and torgo and thrashalla.  Love your guys work.

Um.. One simple 30-45 second post with a simple statement about the delay on this thread reaches all who read it.. a 15 second copy and paste to the 'Coming 4/12/11' thread would do the same. Done! They're back to work. No harm, no foul.

I did notice 2 versions of the mp3 to accommodate both versions of the movie, (and if I recall that's the first time I've seen that) which I can see delaying the release but hearing something to that affect from one of the mods would have ended the speculation before it ever got started.
