I also learned that man on dragon hanky-panky is in no way as sexy as I thought it would be. :o

I must have seriously missed that part of the movie.

When Christian Bale reaches his hand.... up THERE.

Judging from these reactions I guess I learned that post-apocalyptic OBGYN's have not caught on yet.
Aaahh! This movie just throws you violently into the next scene!

Toby Danger

I learned that, despite having jets, missiles, huge ships, and state-of-the-art technology, mankind is ill-equipped to shoot down a few giant flying lizards.

SecretAgentSuperDragon

Yeah, why couldn't they just get a sniper with a .50 cal rifle and pick the dragons off one by one. Just sitting and waiting. Surely it would have worked better than tossing a McConaughey at 'em.

I also learned that Mike says "draygon" in that goofy Midwestern way.

I've learned a lot about goofy, Midwestern speech from Mike.  I swear, in one episode of mst3k he said "Ka-ROW-Key" for karaoke.  That's the only one I remember laughing at but I can name other instances where I noticed...sorry Mike  :)  I still love ya'.

I'm also guessing Mike and Kevin calling McConaughey and Bale "bony" is a Midwestern usage, because they both looked pretty ripped to me. Where I come from, "bony" refers to this:

Alleged

I learned that ancient man thousands of years ago knew about mythical beasts last seen MILLIONS of years ago.

Also that little children are commonplace around chunnel-type construction sites and are often sent into unexplored caves.

Hey, shut up about the Midwest!  YOU'RE the ones who are talking wrong!  The game is called "Duck Duck Grey Duck," I'm telling you!!!!!  DUCK DUCK GREY DUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  (And be sure to overaccentuate the vowels, too - you language-bastardizing pigs!) >:(

Hailing from Redneckville MN, how do you use the term "bony," BBQ?

Bend over and squeal like a pig and I'll show ya! :D

(I'm not kidding about Forest Lake, though.  The school is right across the street from a trailer park...which is across the street from another trailer park.  Hell, pretty much all of "downtown" Forest Lake consists of low-income housing, convenience stores, and fast foot restaurants.  Thank God I don't live in town).

QuoteI learned that when the apocalypse comes and all the major cities are burned, TIME Magazine will still have the time and resources to publish and distribute it's "IS THIS THE END?" issue.

And distribute it intercontinentally.

Now, now, I'm sure everyone took time out of their busy "fleeing and panicking" schedules to read some fine journalistic work.

It's also nice to hear the "military" leader McConnaghey talk about "Nucular" bombs....oh yeah...

Reductio_ad_absurdum

That a bunch of farmers with most of the population being children managed to get a lot of these:

And that mercenaries with an Abrams tank, alot of APCs, a Black Hawk, and a triangulation system that is even more advanced than what the US military has, could not even raid a firehouse.

That apparently there is time to make very nice tomato gardens, but not enough time to pick them before the dragons fry you

Fuzzy Necromancer

I learned that mankind's legends of dragons were based on reality, despite the fact that the dragons only wake up every couple of hundred million years.

I learned that the dragon apocolypse can be hell on your sinuses.

I learned that species of creatures which overtake other life-forms by gradually darkening the sky have poor eyesight during periods of time when the sky gets gradually dark.
Love doesn't hurt. It kills.

How hard is it to mispronounce sauna? Isn't it just SAW-NUH?

She would laugh mercilessly at you too :-)

She says that her state invented saunas and it's actually "SOW-NUH" and I'm an idiot for saying it my way.  Ok, she's not that *quite* that cruel but you get the drift.

SOW-NUH is the correct pronunciation. Sauna's were invented by the Finish or one of the other Scandinavian countries, and thats how they pronounce it.

Yes, and technically, "skiing" is pronounced "SHEE-ing."
