just got finished watching Star Trek V.  it got progressively better ("nice hair-boner") as it went on.  i actually liked the MST experience minus the host segment breaks.  another thing i noticed was the incredulous slant to the riffing.  i loved when Bill-Crow was constantly bitter about the movies but it was always balanced out by Mike and Servo who seemed to be enjoying themselves-  just saying that there was a reason that formula worked so well.  still, i enjoyed it and from what i've been reading Roadhouse is much more fun.  .....anyone (from Austin i presume) notice that Mike has been choosing movies that Mr. Sinus Theater (now known by Sinus Show) riffed?  perhaps pure coincidence but i know the Sinus gang did 'Star Trek V' and 'Crossroads' and maybe 'Cocktail', i can't remember for sure.  i never saw the Sinus take on STrek V but i'd like to hear how it stacked up by those who saw it.  'Crossroads' by Mr. Sinus is pure genius btw.  ........my instant reaction to the question of possible riffing fodder is to do more Gemini Man episodes so we can finally enjoy the triumphant return of Ben Murphy.  yet, i doubt they will ever release that on dvd.  (although we do have like 17 seasons of Punky Brewster released somehow)  ....this is exciting to have Mike back.

I dont know... If Mike does another movie that has the word 'Road' in the title, I just might scream

its bad enough that I get Roadhouse confused with Crossroads sometimes =P

Great lineup though!

what isn't to like about local fanboys who loved MST3K and kept the tradition going??  they even had a cute surf rock intro song where they were trying to make robots...  where does the disdain come from??  cos that Jim Mallon sued their asses??  yah, way to go there.  i don' get it.  explain.  i've seen several of their shows and they're amazing.

Its one thing to just do riffing (Fire Sign Theater / Mad Movies / Rocky Horror / NoTheater), and its another to name yourself "Mr. E. Sinus Theater" and wrap yourself in the cloak of the master.

You try to license MST for use, then get rejected because BBI wasn't impressed with your adult take on MST.

Then envoke a lawsuit because you refused to change your rip off name when you are asked nicely?

Then charge $15 for a CD riff of their Red Dawn show?

I don't care how good they are, for all the ill will they generated in the MSTie community, I'll never watch them.

Here are several links to articles about them in relation to the lawsuit:

http://www.dailytexanonline.com/media/storage/paper410/news/2004/09/01/TopStories/Mr.Sinus.Troupe.Faces.Lawsuit-708552.shtml

BBI's lawyer is quoted as saying "We tried to settle it without a lawsuit ,and they wouldn't comply,"

Sinus show is fu*king clown shoes.

haha.  riiight.  they get sued for keeping the tradition going and yet the Mstie community are the victims??  that's total garbage.  suffice it to say, i'm sure they had no idea it would grow into the huge thing it is now when they first started.  and you know what, SO WHAT if they make a little scratch cos they are good at what they do!!  it isn't like we didn't all write letters, put out ads, donate $ to save the show...  and Mike didn't start out on the original MST3K team and it wasn't his original idea to start riffing.  yet i'm glad he's doing rifftrax now, bless his soul.  Bill came even later and he is my favorite riffer of everyone one the show, period!  if you take your legalism to the extreme Joel should have locked himself in a closet quietly riffing to himself and should still be there now.  ...wait, are you the actual make-up artist for 'Ratboy' and that's why you are pissed off??

"keeping the tradition going" is different than "we ripped off the idea, even wanting to use bots, got rejected when we tried to licence MST, ignored BBI, got sued, then drug our feet till we finaly changed our name"

As for the "they didn't know" defense, it dosen't hold water.  At the point they started packing the house and charging money while infringing on BBI's trademarks, they knew they had done wrong, and chose to ignore the law and continue their jackassery.

From the "changed our name" part forward, they are fine...  BUT the ill will and bullshit they pulled is enough to keep me (and most self respecting MSTies) away.

Its different if you want to make a little fan video and give it away, its different to call yourself something you aren't, and then charge for it.
