No problem, I wasn't trying to be mean or anything - I think it's a common mistake!

I used to work next to a Colombian at a call center.  He was a cool dude.  I learned some of the language from him.  My favorite was "Obrigado".  For some reason, I just love the way it sounds.  (For non-Brazilian Portuguese speakers, it means "thank you").

I just bought it, I'm curious to see if it'll pass mustard.

... The saying is "pass muster."   :)

Yeah, "passing mustard" is what happens the day after a particularly dodgy curry.

To be fair, that might be an accurate description too.  Carolla has only been funny to me in three ways.  Playing Death on Family Guy, on the Man Show where he was kinda leaching off of Kimmel for laughs, and on the radio version of Loveline which he was usually leaching off of guests for laughs (especially David Alan Greer, who was always awesome on that show).  This just might pass mustard, as in it'll be unpleasant and leave a burning sensation.

See, that's what I thought. Maybe he just happened to speak Brazilian Portuguese.  I dunno.

When I first met my wife, I was amused that she once said "for all intensive purposes."  She doesn't like it much when I tell that story now.
Just aks Imrahil, the human libary!

Btw, my manager constantly says "aks".  He's a pretty stringent guy (in many areas of his life).  Yesterday he said (and enunciated) "If you have any questions, just aks me."  I came SO close to saying, "I would like to aks a question."  He's the least jokey guy there, so I'm not sure he'd care too much for the mockery.  But pretty soon, I'm sure I'll snap.

EDIT:  Hey look!  New forum banner!

And he probably did know Brazilian Portuguese as well which is also neat :o

Adam Carolla - so boring, we're talking about how people pronounce things by page two.

Yeah, that is very common.   In fact, I am sure I have said that from time to time.

Heck he didn't even make it 1 page before it derailed!

Well I just finished watching Road House with the Carolla commentary so here are my thoughts about it, but first bear this in mind:

1- I do find Carolla funny, specially when he's making fun of how ridiculous the 80's and 70's were
2 - I'm a big fan of MST3K since I first saw one the Gamera episodes (I curse the day Sandy Frank was born!)

Adam Carolla is joined by Dave Dameshek for this commentary. It feels unscripted so a lot of the chat is Adam doing some of his material about the corniness of 80's movies. Damecheck makes a lot of witty comments about how implausible the situations are (Like why is Doc angry at Dalton for killing the thug that wanted to kill them and also exploded the old man's house?).

It starts out strong with a lot of 80's imagery that's very easy to make fun of and they do it very well, I did laugh out loud a couple of times and kept giggling until the 20 minute mark where it kind settled into a "bon mot rhythm". The middle of the movie it's pretty much them milking the 80's motif, the corny bad guy, the fight scenes, the lack of police presence despite all the violence going on etc...
At one point Dameshek leaves to go to the restroom and Carolla just says stuff like "look at that", "The old man's had enough" and "Now you've done it", this really made it feel very unprofessional and kind of unrespectful, specially considering it is a 10$ commentary. You mean to tell me that for 10 dolars you couldn't pause and edit that part?"
My other big complaint is their method for "synchronizing" the audio. It's very sketchy, and it only marks the start of the movie. Should the power go out or something you're on your own trying to pick up where you left off. They should have copied from the masters and read a few things through out it and included a text file with the time codes.
The last 15 to 30 minutes it picks up in laughs and giggles again (When Dalton rips off the thug's throat until the end).

All in all I found it entertaining and very funny at times. Is it worth the $10 price tag? In my opinion, not at all, specially when you consider the poor production (no good synch method and not editing things like one of the hosts leaving to take a leak).I am a fan of the Carolla podcast and I wouldn't buy another one of these unless they dropped the price to 2.99$ and included a little better synch method. If you're an MST3K fan you probably will not enjoy it that much because, since it's improvised, they lack those 6 or 7 super funny, well though out remarks that punctuate the bed of witty commentary of a Rifftrax. This one feels like a great base to build on top of, but lacks the knock out punches.

P.S. It is "rated R" which sometimes allows for jokes that otherwise couldn't have been said.
