Well, a number of Rifftrax folks tweeted about this, so I'll post it here as well.

QuoteThe first one is here. Adam Carolla and Dave Dameshek set out with the first Basic Cable Commentary. The movie chosen for this premier event is the 80's classic "Road House" with Patrick Swayze. Swayze plays Dalton, one of the best 'Coolers' in the business and when things get rough at the "Road House" Dalton dispenses his on brand of Justice.

Adam and Dave narrate this basic cable classic and dispense their own justices to this basica cable classic. The show runs about 2 hours and is packed full of Ace and Dameshek's humor.
How does this work?

    * Purchase the Download BCC Volume 1 of "Road House"
    * You will need your own Blue Ray or DVD of "Road House" ready to play on your TV
    * Wait for Adam to tell you how to Sync the Video by FIRST playing the audio file on your MP3 player/stereo

Common Questions?

Q : Do I need my own copy of the video "Road House"?
A : YES, This is just the Audio Commentary by Adam and Dave

Q : How does this work?
A : FIRST Start the Audio then Adam will tell you how to start the Video so it all will be in sync for the show.

Q : Is my download is defective, I just hear Adam and Dave talking?
A : No, you need to play this WITH your copy of the DVD or Blue Ray.

Q : But if both are playing at the same time how do I hear Adam and Dave Talk?
A : Turn down the volume on your TV

Gee. That seems familiar. Now, personally I'd say "Hey. Come on in. The water's fine. The more people in the pool the merrier." But then I get to the price tag: $9.99.

Wow.

Good luck with that, guys. 'cause I think it might be priced just a weeee bit too high.

MrTorso

Yeah. I checked out the site and was kinda shocked at the price! You don't even get a sample.

At first I though the same: "$9.99? Surely it is too much". And I think it is if you compare it to top notch riffs like Rifftrax, however one must take into consideration that all the other stuff on his site, all the podcasts are free. So I guess it's a different business model. While Rifftrax charges for everything but charges very little,  Carolla's podcasts are free of charge except for the occasional expensive download.

If it works for both I say we the riff consumers are the winners. :highfive:

I just bought it, I'm curious to see if it'll pass mustard.
yes, no matter what the culture, folk dancing is stupid...

Ooh!  I def wanna hear a RiffTrax familiar's opinion of it!  And when you said, "one must take into consideration", I thought you were gonna say "...a lot of listeners may not know that there is competition, so the price is arbitrary to the uninitiated."  I'm sure there are other forums and such that have differing views on this whole mp3-syncing thing.  Like, I get a sense that Zazzle.com looks down on pay commentary mp3s (esp since the majority of what they direct users to are free). But what you said was interesting to note as well.  Please let us know how it goes.

I'm still waiting for Adam to be funny one of these days. I rather pay him $10 to not talk.

THANK YOU.

He is just not funny so listening to him smuggly mumble things for 90 minutes is not my idea of entertainment.

Yeah, I'll wait for the reviews.. And the price to drop ::)

TimmyBigHands thinks that this is going to be a flash in the pan.  This has Mayfly Venture written all over it.
"Did she just say Chipping?"

I'm far too curious about this, so I'll probably buy it soon. Hopefully it's at least slightly less of a waste than the $10 that fell out of my pocket at the bar last night.

You have to sync the commentary up to the DVD? What a gyp.

Yeah, "passing mustard" is what happens the day after a particularly dodgy curry.
