When we first received Magical Disappearing Money we assumed it was an M.C. Hammer biopic. Fortunately, it turned out to be something even more pathetic and strange!
It's the tale of a supermarket haunted by a witch, but not your standard-issue Hollywood witch. She's more the "found her clothes in an oil puddle behind the Fashion Bug" kind of witch. The kind of witch who shows up at KFC five minutes before close, looking for free stale biscuits.  You can bet she didn't attend Hogwarts, but maybe its discount online equivalent, Pigzits.
Join the Grocery Witch as she takes Mike, Kevin, and Bill on a spooky* journey into the dark realm of insignificant savings! After Magical Disappearing Money, you'll never waste money on extravagances like "fancy seasoned rice" again!**
*creepy
**you absolutely will, and are right to do so

Any chance for those of us who received this as part of the goodies getting the source audio?
I survived the San Diego Comic Con 2010 Hall H stabbing.

Yes, please. The audio mix isn't bad, but the riff volume is still lower than the short volume and the ducking is a bit much.

Do people honestly think that powdered milk tastes better than fresh milk?

Ugh...... :scared:

Even my parents didn't buy that crap after the first box they bought was never finished :speechless:

Great short, one of the better ones they've released recently.

Can you even still buy powdered milk? I expect you probably can somewhere, but I never see it sold in the grocery stores I go to. Not that I'm looking for it. I had it once as a child, and yes, it is awful. Just as good as real milk my ass.

She's right about instant oatmeal though. Seriously people, you can't wait 10 minutes for your oatmeal to cook?! And regular oatmeal tastes better too. It's also less wasteful packaging wise than those single serving packets (though you can buy instant in bulk). I just buy the biggest container of Quaker Old Fashioned Oats I can find, throw in some brown sugar, nutmeg and salt, and I'm happy.

Speaking of wasteful packaging, do not even get me started on those individually wrapped prunes that Sunsweet is selling now...

I actually saw it advertised in the local supermarket ads today. I'm actually considering buying some just because of this short. (The cans are 50 cents each, so it's not a big gamble.)

Conor

We bought some powdered milk in bulk for bread recipes.  I have never tried it mixed with water.

Probably not since Parmalat....

Except that you have to stand there and tend it to make sure it doesn't burn.  Instant makes sense if you're on your own and it saves you time...and time is money. Or sleep if something helps you stay in bed a little bit longer.  And less dishes to wash (which saves times and water).

This sounds like one of those "back to basic" arguments that don't understand that people who did everything from scratch had zero leisure time because they were always working.

EDIT:  All this talk about milk made me dig up that freebie iRiff someone gave out awhile back...."White Ammunition"....   ;)

I used to have this great recipe for chocolate drink which used powdered milk.  You mixed the cocoa powder and the milk powder, added water and some actual liquid milk, and had a delicious drink that didn't have all that chocolate sludge at the bottom of the glass.

But to actually use powdered milk on, like, cereal?  Gross.

And if this woman seriously thinks that adding sugar to corn flakes is in any way comparable to an actual sugary cereal, she's nuts.

So...  no update on those of us who got it free getting source audio?

I read somewhere long ago that they did a study...when you add sugar yourself, you end up with more sugar to the serving than if you were to buy pre-sugared cereals.  And sugar you add isn't free....unless you spend a lot of time taking sugar packets when you eat out.

Showed this to my mom tonight and she swears she knows she seen the Grocery Witch somewhere before. Anyone have any ideas on who she is where I could find out her name?  ???
