Problem with Live Show

Well, I tried to get in on the Halloween Live show, but to no avail.  According to Cinemark, they have cancelled the Fathom events for what I am sure will be another craptacular viewing of Saw 9997 in 3D.  Before they did this, I tried repeatedly to use the links from rifftrax.com to get tickets.  Every time I got to the final screen to purchase the tickets from Cinemark, there would be a message at the bottom of the page saying that the transaction could not be completed at this time.  There isn't any other way for me to get to see this performance unless you guys offer it on DVD sometime down the road.

You know, it would be a shame if Cinemark is cancelling the showing at my local theater just because they weren't getting any sales on the performance, since their site was the one preventing the sale from taking place.

Bummed in Sherman, TX.  Hope you other guys enjoy!

You could try going to the theater it is listed at and asking, hopefully it wasn't cancelled at your theater.  Good luck!

Thanks but I already did that.  The manager was the one who told me that the event had been cancelled.  He did not give me any information on any sales or attempted sales of tickets to the event.  If I could have purchased tickets, I was going to put an ad in the local paper to generate interest..

Hmm. I'd say that something is odd here.  I just checked the closest Cinemark theaters to me and right now they're both showing the live show. And looking in your area, the one in Allen still shows the live show on the 28th. It looks to me that this isn't a Cinemark chain decision, but rather a managerial one.

I know that the problem is only with my theater, or there would be a lot more complaint posts on the board.  To be clear - here is the response to my email on why I couldn't purchase tickets for Rifftrax Live:

Unfortunately for me, the local theater is the only one I can get to and back from in a timely manner on a work night.  So, while I'm glad the other theaters seem to be committed to the event, it doesn't really help me.

Ah, so 3D continues to be the scourge of the world?  Ugh.  That sucks.

Hmm. I wonder how many calls it would take to get those guys to change their mind. I'm not suggesting any specific course of action. Just thinking out loud....and subsequently typing.  ::)

Crap, that's the theater I was going to. I went to Plano for the previous shows, but that's about an extra 50 miles. I was so glad when I saw it was going to be showing in Sherman, this time. Now the Rifftrax listing is gone and a special 8:00pm showing of Saw 3D (whatever happened to Midnight showings?!) is listed instead. Screw you Saw 3D and Johnathon Womack!

Joe,

Thank you for your response.  You are the only person who has indicated a local-to-Sherman location.  If you haven't already, please contact the Sherman Cinemark and let them know of your disappointment.  Also, if you know anyone else who wanted to go to the Sherman theater, please let them know and have them contact the theater as well.  Maybe, if they hear from enough people (please try to be nice in your disappointment), we will have a better shot at getting a live event simulcast in the future.

Also, I should have done more when I wasn't able to purchase the tickets online.  I thought it was just because of the time period that was available for ticket purchase that was to blame.  Next time, I intend to get proactive and start lobbying the theater if I cannot purchase tickets.  Hope you will do the same.

Thanks again.

That really sucks, like they really need to show that movie at that one time. Now you guys are scareing me. We had about 10 people at our showing this time. One major reason is tickets had only gone on sell last week. I spread the word some, but I guess a small south Georgia town is not going to get many people. I really hope this does not kill stop them from showing here again.

Unless the film is a big fanboy/fangirl flick, like Batman, Spiderman, Twilight..or it's something with a cult following like RHPS I don't know if midnight shows have a big draw, especially on a Thursday night.  And especially for what I imagine is a cinematic turd like Saw 3D.  I wouldn't deprive myself of sleep to go see that thing.  For RHPS? Always.  Also assuming there will be a midnight showing of the Tron sequel.  I'll definitely be there for that one.  I just hope it doesn't suck.
