...

So, after all the discussion around here, i pulled the movie out and watched it again the other day. I guess my girlfriend took note, because for Valentine's Day i got the complete Hitchhiker's Guide as a present! I've never read anything past the first two books, so i imagine i'll be steeped in Douglas Adams for the next month or so~  Good Times! ;D

did u enjoy the movie ?  :)

Are you just messing with me?~

Seriously though, i do actually like the movie. But like i said before, it has kinda' grown on me since i first saw it. I thought that the little changes that Adams made here and there worked pretty well. And the casting seemed just fine to me... i really liked Sam Rockwell as Zaphod. I even thought it was pretty cool that they snuck in reference to the old TV series and whatnot. And it's definitely better than the BBC series, which i also liked quite a bit... but in a cheezy b-movie kinda' way.

So there~

So I must say that i loved the movie, i knew after i saw it the first time that i had to have it.  But i just want to know what is it about the original television BBC series or whatever it is (that is how much i know about it) is like? would you compare it to a Mr. Bean british type of humor or is it more of a Monty Python type of humor? I've wanted to know if it really is worth it to own or not.

The HG2G has gone through so many incarnations over the years. Personally, i like the old radio plays...

This was my first exposure to it---NPR here in the US b/c it a few years later...I read the books, caught it on re-runs on TV, and saw the movie.

I loved this movie beginning to end and I loved the books.  I also have the BBC version.  I really like Sam Rockwell and as I've said already Mos Def was awesome.  Alan Rickman was the perfect voice for the depressed robot.  I don't really remember what I heard in my mind while reading the books but his voice is a welcome replacement.  I hope they go on to make additional installments of the series.  They obviously have a lot of story to work with.

Its REALLY REALLY dry humor, but its still funny.  I wouldnt compare it to either bean or monty.
