Correction: the coat hanger should be upside down.

I went to school in beautiful semi-bucolic Winchester, but I know a bunch of those twats too. Such as...

Ah yes he changed his name after graduation. We used to all know him as Bisexual Tim, because he'd begin every contribution to a discussion with "as a bisexual...".

Wow, he sounds like Phil Hendrie's character Doug Dannger.

Tripe

Ann likes Hendrie, I've only really heard a few Ted Bell skits, those are funny though. :)

mrbasehart

I see those people on the streets every day.  Where's Travis Bickle when you need him?

Ah yes he changed his name after graduation

..  to a single name, taken from a play by Dario Fo.

He should have gone with "Pretentiouszone" instead.

From his bio, which he wrote, in the third person:

QuoteBorn Timothy Haggis on February 4, 1977, he changed his name to "Matazone" after a character in a play by Dario Fo. His practice of generally referring to himself as "Mata" has led many people to mistakenly believe that the website's name is a contraction of "Mata's Zone", rather than being his name. While a student at university, Mata encounterd a webart site by Future Sound of London, which inspired him to create Matazone in its original, webart form.

Mata lives in Winchester in the United Kingdom. He is currently writing his thesis for a PhD in cyberculture. He has claimed on the Matazone forums that most of his ideas come in the form of dreams and that the inspiration for several of his art pieces have been based upon shapes observed in the folds and shadows of his bedroom curtains, usually seen when he wakes up.

REALLY?!!  So not only is super pretentious, he spent money on a doctorate that's more useless than a PhD in Philosophy.  Is it wrong that i want to punch him, in the face, really hard?  Like so hard my hand goes numb?  Is that the reaction he wants me to have?

My guess is, based on the tutors who are probably still there, it's really an English PhD but  my college had a bunch of tutors who were really excited about the net, mind you they thought Patchwork Girl was something really special and not, as it really is, a choose your own pretentious adventure.

Basically it has as much cultural relevance as an hour or two wiled away at TV Tropes.

Dude, you could totally hack the planet with a PhD in cyberculture.
I'm all out for kicks...and every inch of me spells EXCITEMENT!
