Even though most of the world apparently despised StarFox Command, I stand by it. I think it's very fun and the story lines are fun to follow.

Game characters I wish could die:

2. Duck Hunt Dog
1. The stupid owl from Zelda

That owl just barely got bumped from my 'best' list at the last moment... because he's AWESOME.

Do you want to hear what I said again?

#30 - Kane
(48 Points) 4 of 24 Lists - Highest Ranking - #5 - Compound and D.B.Barnes

Good Afternoon, Commander! You must be lost, this is not your precious Blue Zone, this is Nod territory! I tell you what - I'll have my forces to send you home.... in a body bag.

List of Games:

Command & Conquer
Command & Conquer: Red Alert
Command & Conquer: Tiberian Sun
Firestorm
Command & Conquer: Renegade
Command & Conquer: The First Decade
Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars
Kane's Wrath
Command & Conquer 4: Tiberian Twilight

Just the facts/Stuff I wiki'd:

Kane is the seemingly immortal mastermind behind the ancient and secretive Brotherhood of Nod society. Little is truly known about the man; many of his followers draw a direct connection between him and the Abrahamic figure of Cain, which Kane does not go out of his way to confirm or deny. Considered a charismatic and brilliant sociopath by the outside world, Kane's followers as well as Kane himself instead see him as a holy figure, even going so far as to refer to him as the Messiah.

Kane is an extraterrestial entity that came to Earth thousands of years ago. According to Kane's own words, he found humans living in mud huts and caves, which would place his arrival between 6000 and 4000 years BC. To humans, Kane is like a father - he uplifted the fledgling humanity, giving them tools and knowledge, guiding every step of the way. He is known to the Scrin, as his genetic pattern appears in the Mothership's records, however, his relationship with them is never explained. This genetic code also grants his human form practical immortality and extreme resiliency to damage.

While he became a public enemy in Western nations only in the last decade of the 20th century or so, he is linked to Joseph Stalin, the infamous leader of the Soviet Union, as far back as the early 1950s.

Numerous files exist concerning him, with the most important being Interpol file GEN#4:16 and the GDI criminal dossier. They list numerous aliases Kane used, including Jacob Caine, Caine or Amir Al'Quayym and indicate that no truly reliable source exists for reconstructing his past as all records are either false, forged or outright planted by Nod. Among the Brotherhood's faithful Kane is most often referred to simply as The Prophet.

Kane is a highly intelligent and cunning man possessing extreme charisma, most sources placing his IQ at 192 at the very least, vastly above genius level, allowing him to unite the Brotherhood of Nod under his authoritarian rule. He is a master at propaganda and information warfare, evidenced when he broadcasted a fabricated news report about the alleged GDI slaughter of civilians in Bia?ystok, Poland, as well as manipulation and control, evidenced by him controlling Joseph Stalin's actions. Kane's own messages reflect his charisma, speaking with a confident deep voice.

Trivia:

Kane is portrayed and voiced by Joseph D. Kucan. Kucan also served as Full Motion Video director for the Command & Conquer games produced by Westwood Studios; he was the senior dramatic director for Command & Conquer: Renegade.

Pak's Thoughts - Add one more to the list of games I need to dig into. I played around with the first stage in Command and Conquer and wrote it off as a typical RTS game, but after reading all this I might need to dig a little deeper.

Pak-Man

#29 - Dirk the Daring
(50 Points) 5 of 24 Lists - Highest Ranking - #6 - D.B.Barnes

Uh oh!

List of Games:

Dragon's Lair
Dragon's Lair II: Escape from Singe's Castle
Dragon's Lair II(again): Time Warp
Dragon's Lair 3D: Return to the Lair
Dragon's Lair III: The Curse of Mordread

Just the facts/Stuff I wiki'd:

Dirk the Daring is the mostly silent hero of the Dragon's Lair series and would-be slayer of Singe the dragon, and rescuer of Princess Daphne. His weapon of choice is a sword which he wields with one hand. By the time of the events of Dragon's Lair II, It is revealed that Dirk has become the father of 10 children, 6 Sons and 4 daughters (All with coordinated wardrobes.) He also doesn't have a proper Wiki entry like- anywhere.

Trivia:

Dirk's voice (What little there is of it) is provided by Dan Molina.

Pak's Thoughts - Well there's not a lot of information out there about the man, but Dragon's Lair may have eaten up more of my quarters than any other arcade game. Deep down inside, what I secretly always wanted was for video games to advance to the point where it looks like you're playing a cartoon. The technology's just about there, but everyone's all focused on making games look real instead. Until that perfectly interactive cartoon game comes along, I'll always have Dragon's Lair.

#28 - Leon Kennedy
(51 Points) 4 of 24 Lists - Highest Ranking - #3 - Tyrant

I'm sure you boys didn't just tag along so we could sing "Kumbaya" together at some Boy Scout bonfire. Then again, maybe you did.

List of Games:

Resident Evil 2
Resident Evil: Darkside Chronicles
Resident Evil 4
Resident Evil Gaiden

Just the facts/Stuff I wiki'd:

Leon was an idealistic rookie cop. He burns with the strong desire to protect and to serve, and life as a cadet was an eye-opening experience. Leon; at the age of 21, was assigned to work for the Raccoon City Police Department after graduating from the police academy. He arrived at Raccoon City on 29 September 1998, a day later than he was scheduled to. Leon arrived in Raccoon City for his assigned police department. Having overslept, the sun had long since set when he reached the city limits via a highway. Seemingly abandoned as a blockade by the US military earlier, he was unaware of the t-virus outbreak.

Reaching the city's business district, Leon stopped his car to inspect a body on the ground. Being unaware of the outbreak, he was caught by surprise when several zombies (and the body he thought dead) tried to attack him.

Over the seven years since the Raccoon City disaster, Leon's personality changed noticeably. From his one day as a rookie police officer, to an Anti-Umbrella member, to his years as a government agent, he learned to understand his surroundings a different way. As an officer, he was strict with rules and and followed his job to the letter; as an agent, he is not as uptight, though while always maintaining a professional manner, he has been known to use wise cracks to humiliate and annoy his enemies.

In 2004, a 27-year-old Leon was assigned to the United States Secret Service. He is assigned to guard President Graham's family, but when the President Graham's daughter Ashley, is kidnapped, Leon's first mission is to track her down. Information gathered pointed to the kidnappers being located in a remote area of Spain. Leon investigates on his own, along with two members of the local police. Unfortunately, it seems something bizarre has happened to the local townsfolk and after the two officers disappear (they are eventually found dead), Leon finds himself relying on his skills once again in a deadly fight for survival.

Trivia:

Leon is voiced by Paul Mercier in Resident Evil 4 and Paul Haddad in Resident Evil 2.

Leon seems to have really unlucky first-days when starting a new job.

Pak's Thoughts - Once upon a time, I wasn't much of a fan of Resident Evil, but then Tyrant came along, and she's really into the series (I know! Right?) and I've slowly been inducted into the Resident Evil universe. Leon is one of the cooler playable characters and it's cool to see Resident Evil get some representation on this list.

#27- Simon Belmont
(56 Points) 5 of 24 Lists - Highest Ranking - #8 - Smoky

What a horrible night to have a curse.

List of Games:

Castlevania
Castlevania II: Simon's Quest
Super Castlevania IV
Vampire Killer
Haunted Castle
Hai No Majutsushi
Konami Wai Wai World
Ganbare Goemon
Ganbare Goemon 2
Snatcher
Battle Tryst
DreamMix TV: World Fighters
Evolution Skateboarding
New International Track & Field
Castlevania: Harmony of Dissonance
Castlevania: Judgement

Just the facts/Stuff I wiki'd:

Simon Belmont was the heir to the renowned Vampire Killer whip and of the Belmont Clan and became the most famous vampire hunter. He was born in 1667, possibly the son of Desmond (himself the son of Soleiyu [who was the son of Christopher] and the great grandson of Trevor, the descendant of Leon). Simon grew up hearing stories of his great ancestors that who had defeated Dracula, along with those who helped them. As he trained in the ways of the whip, he would often wonder how he compared to these legendary warriors. He was rather brash and inclined to force his way through situations.

Simon would marry at some point and his line was continued. His whip would be passed down to his son and then to his grandson, Juste Belmont, who would later have to fight against a new spirit that had arisen when his friend had gathered Dracula's remains, which had returned to the world, and ultimately defeat Dracula's ghost.

Trivia:

Simon's name may be a reference to Simon Carson, the protagonist of the 1970 Hammer film Scars of Dracula.

Simon's voice actor in Castlevania Judgement is Keith Silverstein.

Pak's Thoughts - Simon's in all the best old Castlevania games.  I (Like many gamers, I'm sure) was introduced to Simon Belmont via his character in Captain N: The Game Master. That show was actually the reason I tried a LOT of must-play games. Metroid, Mega Man, Punch Out!!, and Kid Icarus are all games I might not have tried if that silly cartoon hadn't told me to. It took me years to figure out that the personality presented in the cartoon might not have really been indicative of Simon's actual personality.

Just the facts/Stuff I wiki'd:

Princess Peach Toadstool is the princess of the Mushroom Kingdom. Peach first appeared in Super Mario Bros.. She was created by Shigeru Miyamoto to be the damsel-in-distress throughout most Mario games. She resides in her castle along with many Toad retainers. Her kingdom is often attacked by the Koopa Clan, led by Bowser.

Peach has an affinity for the color pink, which accents her feminine personality and kind temperament. Peach's girlish nature and role as the damsel are often represented with her heart abilities and Princess emblems. Peach's initial design was said to represent her stubborn, yet cute, appearance.

Since her debut, Peach has appeared in installments related to the Mario game series for over 20 years. Peach is occasionally a key supporting character in mainstream games, and almost always playable in spinoff installments. Her most prominent appearance to date is as the heroine of Super Princess Peach.

Peach is portrayed as Mario's love interest and the frequent damsel-in-distress. She is also good friends with Luigi, Toad, and especially Princess Daisy.

Peach has a tall height in terms of other characters. She is taller than characters like Luigi and Daisy, but she is shorter than characters such as Rosalina and Waluigi. Peach has a similar body type to Daisy's, but her waist is more elongated, and her frame is unique in comparison. Peach's skin is fair in complexion. She has a pert, pointed, defined nose with a curved stem. Peach is commonly depicted with a puffy smile, and she has round, pink lipstick. Her eyebrows are a dark shade of her blonde hair, and they're thin as well as small. She has very oval, deep-set eyes. They are smaller than Daisy's, but are still large. Peach's eyes have multiple, thin lashes, and consist of light blue tones. Peach's face is describable as oval, soft and pointed.

She has a very thick, flowy, long hairstyle; flipped, fringed bangs with wavy layers are included. Her hair consists of four, small, flipped pieces, which reach above shoulder-length. Peach's bangs are soft as well as heart-shaped, and they have one large part at the top shaping down the center of her forehead. Peach's hairstyle also has long, split, ear-tails that shape her face.

Peach's hair is best described as yellow. Her hair is always a yellow shade and she is well known for her status as a blonde. She sometimes wears her hair tied up in a ponytail. Peach is the only princess who ties her hair back, considering its long length; her ponytail hairstyle is mostly seen in the sports category of the Mario series' spinoff installments.

Trivia:

Here's the big breakdown: Princess Peach was always Princess Peach in Japan, but for some reason, in the U.S., we went with Princess Toadstool. By the time Super Mario 64 came out, Nintendo decided it was time to unify the names, so they just started calling her Princess Peach out of the blue. This caught on, and she's mostly referred to as Princess Peach. The explanation for this is that Peach was her first name, and Toadstool is her last name, so her FULL name and title would be Princess Peach Toadstool.

Pak's Thoughts - Miyamoto sure seemed to like his damsels in distress. Princess Peach was a good goal for the first Mario Bros. game, but she didn't grab me until Super Mario 2. She's indespensable in that game. The ability to hover is SOO useful that I started using her all the time, and once you play long enough with a character, you start to empathize with them.

CHECKPOINT!

We're halfway there! The top 25 contains some of the most significant characters in video gaming, both old and new. I'm going to take a break from this list over the weekend, and since Monday's labor day, I might not post up the next 5 as early as usual (When I sleep in, I sleep IN!).

Now's a good time to start sending me your ideas for the next LoC. I'll open up the polls on Wednesday and close them on Saturday. As always, don't send the idea unless you want to host the list.

This list has been a blast to host, so far. Thanks once more to everyone who sent their list in!

I don't know about the game, but the picture on the right might be the single gayest thing I've ever seen,

FLOCK of RABID SHEEP?!?!

man, why did i not have leon higher on my list? at least with in the top 10 :P i been playing re4 exclusively for the past few weeks...

mr.b.natural

I had Leon on my list but Princess Zelda and Princess Peach?  Really?  I guess Peach is playable in a lot of the games but she's not exactly a dynamic character or anything.

Zelda I can understand. She actually has special powers and does shit (remember Sheik?). All Peach ever does is get kidnapped and bake cakes.

Invader_quirk

Like I said before, Zelda's a big and interesting part of Spirit Tracks. Peach is interesting in the Paper Mario games, but not much else. Of course, EVERYBODY'S awesome in the Paper Mario games.

As for Leon... I always thought he was kind of laughable, at least in RE4. And that hair is so 90's.
