Why are these forums called 'child boards?'

Just curious, really.... It seems like an odd name concerning the topics discussed here.  Anyone have any insight into this?

"Child Boards" is another name for "Subforums".



Ironically, few Subforums contain conversations about submarines.

That's programming/animation language, basically.

It's like binding a smaller piece to a bigger piece so they move together. The child is "bound" to the parent, if that makes any sense.

And if it doesn't, hey, It's early in the morning and I haven't had any coffee yet...
