Just finished watching it.  It was an epically long journey... but well worth it.  I give it a 9.5, so I'll round up to a 10.  I wondered if it would be able to stand up to the previous installments, and, like the films themselves, they're all pretty much on equal ground in my book.   ;D  I guffawed, smirked, chuckled, laughed, applauded, belted out exclamations of joy, and bowed in reverence to some fantastic references throughout the whole thing.  Then again, I accomplished all those things in the first 10mins.  But, yes, it was great from beginning to end; not a part where I felt they lost their steam.

I hoped to mention some fave lines here, but for such a long movie, I couldn't even begin to whittle down my favorite ones.  That'd be like watching 3 RiffTrax in a row and picking a couple, so I might save that for the Fave Lines thread.  I will say tho that Mike's "I'm just as God made me, sir" line has inspired me to watch Spinal Tap now.   ;)

This was a great one. But seeing I don't choose a top rank, gave it a 9. (but it counts as a near 10)
Some of my favorite 'Things to Remember When I Become Evil Overlord'
56. My Legions of Terror will be trained in basic marksmanship. Any who cannot learn to hit a man-sized target at 10 meters will be used for target practice.

This is a ten for me.

Here's something odd.  Back when these movies were first coming out, a friend of mine who was a HUGE LOTR nerd was super pissed about some big spider not making the movies.  And yet in this third movie I saw a big honking spider.  What the hell?  Was there another spider in the books or was my friend somehow misinformed?  (I can't remember now if his rage was before the final movie came out or not.)

Shelob appeared earlier in the book series than it did in the movies, IIRC. Jackson moved the scene since otherwise Sam and Frodo would just be hiking in the third film.

I'm going with 8 on this one, parts felt like a 10 but other parts felt like a 6, so average it to 8.

It was very uneven. It's really good once the battle outside Minas Tirith starts, but there's a lot of dead zones.

Prince of Space 5049

Truely a masterpiece!  It is clear they spent a lot of time on this one, and plenty of laugh out loud moments.  A triumphant capstone to a horribly long saga.  Trophys and ribbons all around!

For such an epic release, and considering how long it's been between feature film riffs (which should stoke the anticipation) I'm surprised there hasn't been more conversation about this riff yet.  Maybe it's hard for people to block out 4 hours to watch the movie.  LOL

Well that is a good description of the movie on its own as well.

People are still watching it, or are more busy watching soccer.

The second half was a lot better than the first half. And, as has been stated already, the same can be said for the movie itself. By the time the attack on Minas Tirith started I was laughing a lot. Now, I'm watching it again from the beginning, and I'm sorely tempted to just fast forward to that part.

Anyway, I'll give it an 8. The first half is mostly 6 or 7 material, while the second half is almost all 8-10.

Not as good The Two Towers though.

A 9, it would have been a 10 but the wrestling Arwen remark has caused me to visualize Arwen being thrown around a cage by Bonesaw and that sort of mental scarring is just unacceptable.

I thought they really brought their A game after a series of disappointing riffs.  Definitely the best of 2010.
