Now now, the movie can't tell us everything can it?

BathTub

No, it's only natural that some stuff is cut for time.

Gees, I think every moron knows that all arm wrestling tournaments are double elimination.  Do they have to explain gravity to you guys too?

When my dad and I reconnected and his livelyhood was on the line, he was all caught up in thumb wrestling.  Those are some tough guys on that circuit. He crossed the defending champ and nearly lost his life for it but they decided to take it to the table.  It's single elimination, balls to the wall stuff though.  Those thumb wrestlers don't joke around like the arm wrestling circuit.  Needless to say, he lost his match and I haven't spoken to him since.

[and just in case it needs to be explained, that was sarcasm]
mike5150 how tall are you?.....in gallons?

I came in with semi-low expectations, as I wasn't sure how he'd cope with going back to just himself, but wow. That was just an excellent job all the way through, and I was very pleased with the Disembodio(s) inter-cuts. Very well done.

Definitely a must-buy.

This one was right up there with Road House. Excellent solo riff all around.

Hawk(s) was a terrible parent.  First, he sold drugs or killed people or something, and skipped out when the kid and his mom.  Then, he let's the kid drive an 18-wheeler.  Think of the catastrophe that could have caused if the damn thing jackknifed.  And another thing, during that scene, he was trying to prove that the kid was being a wise ass and that driving a truck wasn't as easy as he thought it was.  But the frigging kid learned how to drive it in about three minutes.  So how did Hawk(s) make his point?

Second, he didn't even tell the kid his mother was dying in the hospital.

Third, when Hawk(s) drove the truck through the front door of the mansion, how did he know that the kid or a maid or something wasn't standing there?

It's hard to prove parental competency when you've just squished the kid under your truck tires.  :speechless:

But other than that, he was a great dad who deserved the kid at the end, even though there was no reason for the grandad to sign over custody.

BathTub

We don't know why Hawk left. But I am sure that the Grandfather (who could very well have been a large part of the reason) would have been only too happy to tell the kid all sorts of stories about why. Plus they thought she was just in hospital for surgery, had he known she was dying I am sure he probably would have driven day and night to get there .

no use trying to analyze the gaping holes that stallone left in the plot...

If the movie had earned more, no doubt we would have been given the deleted scenes on the DVD that would explain all the plot holes.   Maybe even Stallone complaining about the script doctors that removed subtle character moments and plot devices. :P

I think Mike was dead on...

"yeah, stallone was involved in the screenplay in that he said 'yeah, I wanna do a movie about armwrestling....it can have a kid too"

I also loved Mike singing a line from Band-Aid:  "And there'll be no snow in Africa at Christmas time this year..."

yes definitely one of those fun unexpected moments.

Pak-Man

Wow! I think every Mike solo effort needs to be a cheesy '80s movie from now on. :^) The riffs were on spot and the movie was rediculous. But I think the best part was that the movie made no effort to resolve itself. It cut straight to resolution without finishing the conflict.

To quote one of my fav Crossroads riffs, "Don't know how to end your scene? Just end it!"

Haha, you're right...I gues Loggia just decided that "hey, he won the tournament, that must mean he's a capable father; I suppose I'll drop the charges and let him have my Grandson"
