Finally, some solid news from Nolan himself: http://www.cinematical.com/2010/06/04/christopher-nolan-causes-massive-nerdgasm-with-batman-and-super/

Guess that's that for the Joker...

I think The Joker is too good of a character to just toss away like that.  Of course, I didn't think Heath Ledger was as great as everyone said.  He was good, but people act like he was DeNiro in Raging Bull.  I guarantee you, if he hadn't died, he would not have won the oscar for that role.  Now, I'll wait for the mob to gather outside my apartment with pitchforks and torches...

Because I like a character's premise and don't think that Heath Ledger was the greatest actor to ever grace the planet in that role?

Doctor Who?

Yeah Mark Hamil(Arkum Asylum was some of his best work ever) was the best and i don't share a lot of people's hate for Nichelson's version.  Still Ledger was very good.

The part of the article where Nolan talks about how different Batman and Superman are gives me some real hope for the next Superman movie.

I just got the first Batman movie on BD. I almost got Returns (the original movies stop there for me) but opted out. Still might grab it next time I run out... as ho-hum as those movies are, they represent a bit of my childhood that I remember quite fondly, so I feel that I owe it to myself to own nice-looking versions of them :)

Sadly, Hamill's retiring from playing Joker after Arkham Asylum 2 - though we do get to look forward to John DiMaggio (the voice of Bender from Futurama) playing Joker in the Red Hood DC Universe DVD movie out later this June...That's gonna be interesting.

I think he DID deserve the Oscar, but I think you're right. Without his death, I don't think he'd have even been nominated.

Doctor Who?

WHAT?!

:-\ :speechless: :'(

Why.  It's not like he is getting to old or he has other things to do,this is just sad.

He's been doing it since 1993. Give him a break. He still enjoys it, but still...

I'm only disappointed `cause I wanted to see if they could bring him in as a slightly different temperament Joker in the 3rd movie, but whatever. His performance in Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker rivals Ledger's, even if it's a bit toned down for the PG-13 rating (I'm still waiting to get ahold of Arkham Asylum, but I've heard clips - not enough to draw judgment, though.)

Besides, he does tons of voices all the time - most notably recently Ozai in Avatar: The Last Airbender.

Anyways, the friggin' voice of Bender doing the Joker. I'm looking forward to that. DiMaggio can do funny, creepy, and serious already - he's a perfect fit.

I hear he went through a phase where he resented Star Wars and was sick of only being known as Luke Skywalker. He may be starting to feel something similar about the Joker.

The awesome thing about Mark Hamill is that he is incredibly accessible to his fans.  He seems like the nicest celebrity ever.
