He's doing it for a movie role.  I have to say, I don't think that it will make him be a good actor, but it's nice to see a rapper taking acting seriously instead of just standing in front of an exploding car while WIllem Dafoe looks for somewhere to cash a paycheck.

Oh, and any jokes like "I guess he's 25 cents now! Ho ho ho!" gets you cast into the lake of fire.

He's always seemed like a committed person, no matter the medium.  I don't care for his acting, but it looks like he's serious about it.

I don't think so...he's playing a football player with cancer, so the tattoos would fit the character.  The football player aspect, not the cancer patient.  I don't know many cancer patients who get inked up.
