Yeah, God forbid there be any story or character development amidst all the running, shouting, and explosions. Michael Bay is much better suited to the job.

And Whedon would guarantee the former how?  He's a decent producer, okay writer (not much on any real science in his work) but he's a lame director, IMHO.

He's a lame director based on exactly one feature film, and you're complaining about the lack of real science from a guy who wrote about vampires and demons.

Tripe

Her dislike of him is mostly based on Alien: Resurrection. :)

Oh....not only.  But that does have a lot to do with it.

Bob

Sigh, not this tired Joss debate again?.......  :(

Tripe

Yeah I think he'll probably do a good job on this.

Really? I mean, that movie has a whole lot of problems, but with past experiences being what they are on the Aliens franchise, you gotta figure there was a bunch of interference from the studio.  Jeunet admitted as much on his commentary for Amelie.

Doctor Who?

I couldn't be happier about this news.  His one movie is my favorite action/Sci Fi films of the past decade.  I don't think they could have picked a better director.  Let's at least wait for the trailer before declaring this movie the WORST.THING.EVER.

On the bright side, there's now a much greater chance of Nathan Fillion being in the film.

Can't complain about that.  Fillion increases the awesomeness levels of pretty much everything I've seen him in.

Very true. I know there have been rumors about The Hurt Locker's Jeremy Renner, but Fillion would make a swell Hawkeye. (Which I would guess to be a smallish part anyway, so he could probably find time away from Castle.)
