So, would it be better to include the top 100 billboard charters or just the top 40?  I'm thinking that top 40 would be good, but top 40 in any given week, not just the top 40 for the year...

Thoughts?

Top 40 for the year only would cut out a good portion of the songs I'm thinking about.

Anything that hit the top 100 would probably be too big of a pool to choose from.  (Typically 400+ songs each year)  Besides most of those songs would hardly be classified as "hits".

I think that anything that made it to #40 or higher on the weekly Hot 100 chart would be perfect.  Basically, if Casey Kasem played it on his Top 40 radio show, then it would be considered a "hit song", and therefore would be eligible.

But that's just my opinion.

(If you do decide to have it be anything from the Top 100, then I'll probably have a ton of weird crap on my list that most people here have never heard before.)

why is top 40 seperate anyways?

Not sure where it began, but Top 40 is usually the mark everybody wants.  (American Top 40 with Casey Kasem was a popular radio show for years, and the BBC Radio One UK Chart Show Top 40 still plays every Sunday to this day.

I like the sound of this, actually. Any dissenters?

Is there a UK equivalent to this? Also, is there a UK Eighty-EightyNine equivalent?

I have no idea where to find this information. Although, I suppose if it's an 80s song I have heard it would have made the top 40....

gojikranz

so all music also has the "mainstream rock" chart does that not count?

http://www.everyhit.com/

You can search for songs that hit the UK chart here.  I guess this would be good if you had a song in mind but weren't sure if it charted.

(Or if your song didn't make the US Top 40 - maybe it made the UK Top 40 and can make your list that way instead!)

Actually, my list just got way more interesting using the UK Top 40 also.  :P

I'm excited after looking at that site. I love 80's music.

Still don't know how to get by the week charts, though.

I think the big problem with a celebrity crush list would be the simple fact that this forum contains maybe eight females and a gabillion males.
Who came up with celebrity crushes?

*raises hand*

I'll probably re-submit it next time, too.

Of course some people, if they're in a whimsical mood, might not turn in a single gender list....

I'm sure I'd have some fun w/ mine.  :)

Hits from the 80's will be neat.

TeamRad, if you re-submit and we do this topic, please try to make it fair and balanced. Not like fox news, but like an actual scale

Aside from giving Isla a 200 point head-start, I'm sure I'll be fair & balanced.
