I prefer studio.

But if it was music rather than this sort of thing... then I kinda like Live albums.  But yeah.

Oh, and I'm curious if people prefer the LIVE or studio versions, because I actually notice more support for the LIVE versions than I do the studio.  I don't know if the LIVE people are just more outspoken (possibly why they like to hear the roar of a dorky crowd) or if more people actually do prefer the LIVE releases to the studio releases.  Based on posts, the LIVE people seem to dominate the forums and comments.  I set up a Live vs. Studio poll on the MST3k forum, and right now the count is: Studio (74%) vs. LIVE (26%), but only 23 people have voted.

I'll have to wait a little while to answer this question for sure (since I haven't seen many of the studio CT offerings), but  I'm guessing that I would like both equally.  The audience noise doesn't really bother me that much, and like I said before, the live performance seems to have more energy.

I wasn't a big fan of CT based on their first few offerings, but East Meets Watts is my kind of movie, so I gave them another shot.  I'm glad I did, and I'll be catching up on the ones I've missed soon.

Well, I enjoyed the riffing in East Meets Watts, and being a huge Dolemite/Rudy Ray Moore fan, I was totally happy about them doing a blacksploitation/kung-fu movie.  That is definitely new ground for the riffers, and that was exciting.  I agree that the first few CT DVDs were lacking a bit of spark because the Titans didn't really interact with each other during the early releases... and clearly the Titans respond great to having an audience.  They get immediate feedback and that's great for them, I'm sure.  I just like the schlocky movies, the riffs, and the jokes.  I guess I'm stuck in my ways, and yearn for the closest thing to MST3k that anyone can provide...  plus, I don't like people, so I don't care to hear the audience's laughter, applause and cheers.  They are all usually overdoing it because they are caught up in the moment and they are trying to get as much out of the experience after paying $40-$60 to see the Titans Live.  I guess happiness does have a price tag.  I personally don't care if the crowd are having a good time or not.  I just want to hear the wonderfully crafted jokes.  I went to a live CT show and had a great time...  but honestly the DVDs don't capture the experience.  I'm glad for the Titans if they continue to do well and people buy their DVDs--live or otherwise--but I will continue to pray to Jesus Christ about my selfish desire for the Titans to return to releasing studio DVDs.  I'm sure that is high up on his "to-do" list.

As long as it's funny, I don't really care. Personally, I think the Live stuff for both CT and Rifftrax has been the funniest stuff either group has done. Even the live MST3K stuff they did at conventions was funnier than a lot of episodes of the show, in my honest opinion. But all in all, if it's funny, I'll go for it.

So all in all, I'm pretty much spilt 50/50 between studio and live stuff.

They've won me over on the live releases.  The crowd sounds are not obtrusive but they do add to the experience.  On The Alien Factor the crowd occasionally react to the bad acting with laughter but it's very natural for them to do it.   I would hate it if anybody in the crowd started yelling out their own material but there has been no evidence of that happening.   If this allows the Titans to save on production costs of studio shows, more power to them.  A bi-monthly release schedule would seem about right for them now but we'll just have to wait and see what they do.

Won me over too.  The live releases actually have the one thing I really felt was missing from the studio releases: energy.

I am looking forward to ANY more releases by them, studio or live.  I am enjoying them both, but I actually am liking the live versions best.

I went to the St Louis show last year and the crowds that attend these shows are not the kind that would yell out their own jokes.    The rest of the crowd would beat them to death.

No hints yet, but I am guessing it would be a live DVD from one of their tour stops.
