That ... sounds kinda cool, actually.

Still, while the majority of this movie was retarded I just love that speech Connor gives to Skynet about "you've been hunting me since before I was born and now here I am bitch" or whatever it was.  LMFAO  I don't know.  I think if you're gonna do Terminator you need John Connor in a major role.  If you're gonna milk the franchise for every last cent then be sure to work over your best cow, so to speak.

Terminator Salvation is the thrilling story of the journey of a once valuable franchise. When the intellectual property rights lapse after a disappointing third movie, they're snatched up at well below their estimated market value by a wacky mismatched duo of producers. The petulant star they bring on board demands to play a role that wasn't actually in the script, massive rewrites ensue, and the novice director is forced to fall back on the skills he honed directing Sugar Ray music videos. Will the franchise rise to the occasion, renewing our enthusiasm for its once beloved characters? Or will the resulting film be a cynical, calculated exercise in maximizing profitability with little regard for story or coherency?

Terminator Salvation firmly casts its lot with the latter. Christian Bale, apparently unaware that The Dark Knight had wrapped shooting, alternates between his raspiest "Harrison Ford in Firewall" whisper and barking like a mandrill/harbor seal hybrid. Fortunately, the movie turns out to not really be about him. It's actually about the guy from Avatar, the guy who played the new Chekov and a mute eight year old girl. Thrill as the resistance discovers the secret weapon that could save mankind: a specific radio frequency! Bonus points if you can identify which scene Christian Bale was taking so seriously that he unleashed the most humiliating caught-on-camera rant since Hall of Famer George Brett discussed soiling his pants. Google it.

As a result of having to endure repeated viewings of Terminator Salvation, Mike, Kevin and Bill are all done professionally with each other.

Released on 2/4.

Shouldn't there be a stipulation if you have won in the past 30 days you are not allowed to win again, to give others fair chance to guess? Just saying... :)

I don't see a point in that. ManUnderMask is good, perhaps a little too good. But that is the very nature of competition, is it not?

Looking forward to this (as usual), but really unfortunate timing: yesterday Amazon's "Gold Box" daily sales had the WS/reg DVD version on sale for $9.99.  Now it's back up to $14.99.  :(  I thought briefly of buying it, but wasn't going to unless it would be riffed.  Oh well.

I'm pretty sure you can find it in great amounts at any Blockbuster's used section, at a 2 for $20 price ;)

Found [and ordered] a used Amazon Marketplace copy last night - listed as "Like New" - for $10 including shipping.  Might even arrive by the time the RiffTrax is released.  But thanks for the assist.  :)  Since I never go to Blockbuster (they're WAY overpriced to rent anything that isn't a new release, and still pretty pricey for new releases, compared with the Family Video store nearby), I never think about their massive 'leftovers'.  Heck... Family Video probably had some used copies for about $7 if I'd looked.  Oh, well, rentals're usually pretty beat up there.

Not good, just lucky, and a fast typist.

I also plan to skip a week should I win, say, ten or more in a row. Good luck to me!   >:D

Screw John Connor. A Terminator movie without time-travel is like a day without sunshine.

I haven't seen the film yet.  Not sure from what ShadowDog said how involved Connor was in the film, or how recognized he was by fellow warriors.

I would have tended to agree with both of you, but if the TV series is canon (and no reason to think otherwise unless and until I see something to the contrary in Salvation when it arrives in a couple days), then Terminator 3 never happened, and John Connor is not the head of the resistance because he was never in the 'present' on Judgment Day.

But I have to agree with gbeenie: without time travel it seems it would just be a dystopian war film, of which there have been far too many already.

That's a great point, actually.  Think about what these filmmakers did.

"Hey, let's make a Terminator movie, but let's do it without time travel, without John Conner, and without Ar-nuld."

A day without sunshine - in Oregon we call that... a day.

With only slightly more scratches than a cat juggler's hands. (I swear, do most Blockbuster customers try to toss their discs into the player from across the room like they're playing horseshoes?)

I should add that that was back when they wanted Bale to play Marcus. When Bale instead showed interest in Conner he made them do rewrites, upping Conner's part into the completely useless "why do we follow this guy" character we got in the film.
