Yeah, Mike Meyers has a stranglehold on some of the biggest franchises in film history. Did you realize that Shrek 2 is the 3rd highest grossing movie of all time? But as a caveat, Travolta had a cameo in Goldmember, as did our other Rifftrax hombre, Sir Scientology, Tom Cruise

Is it possible that perhaps one more 'blockbuster' like this would do either Tom or John in, for good this time?  If that's the case, then for sheer irony, they should both be cast in a remake of 'How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying'...

Well the thing is (and I know this will get some sighs) everything Tom makes isn't bad. Yeah, there were a lot of lame 80s films. But MI3 was a damn good action movie, despite its relatively low take. I think Tom has the potential to be ok at times, whereas Travolta is always annoying

But on that note, what was the last travolta "blockbuster" you remember...was there ever one in the last couple decades?

I'd say it's been downhill since Welcome Back Kotter

Thom_Serveaux

It's not so much that everything Tom makes is bad, just that per capita he has a higher overall percentage of craptaculars...  Oh, and then there's the intrinsic irony, what with that whole anti-psychiatry stance when he seems to be sorely needing it....

macleod

I think the pyschiatry thing is the least problematic aspect of the scientology thing. But I suppose maybe that's the point, why have all the psychiatry stuff when it would fix your overarching belief in Xenu and misplaced alien souls?

sarcasm_made_Easy

why exactly do those idiots have an issue with modern medicine anyways?

Wiseblood

By convincing their cult members that psychologists are evil they'll stay away from them and be less likely to be deprogrammed.

sarcasm_made_Easy

but dont they also disagree with actual doctors on stuff as simplistic as asprin?  Thats what ive heard anyways.

I'm very suspicious about what the Scientology elite actually tell their Hollywood recruits... It's apparent to many nay-sayers that Scientology is nothing more than a cult, yet many members credit Scientology with turning their lives around. But, it's also very apparent that the celebrities who believe in Scientology are a huge draw for the "religion".

personally i think scientology is the modern version of the stonecutters COUGH  i mean stonemasons.

Nice simpsons ref. You really gotta wonder, about what it is that turns all these people. Is there like a really impressive card trick? Orgies? Unlimited cheez its? A cool "Scientologist do it w/o theatans" bumper sticker? What is it?
