TOR

I'm trying to buy my Troll2 rifftrax (after purchasing the DVD), and I get page after page of re-registration.

First, my old registrations come back as unknown.

And second, I don't know what the F*** I am registering for. Is it for RiffTrax? Is it for Pay Pal?

I don't feel like creating new accounts and divulging passwords when I don't even know what the F*** I am doing. Should I be re-creating my old account? The process sucks A**.

I've spent a half hour going through "Announcements" and "Technical" forums and there is no information that I can find. Has no one else had this problem?

My apologies if I have missed something, but this seems totally F***ED. Can I get some F***ING help?

F***ING Thanks,
F***ING TOR

(p.s. thank god I just bought The Office Complete dvd box set)

If it's the first time you purchased with the new site design, you have to register. I did anyway.  The new site is more database based and you'll get a hand dandy custom account page when you register.

Sorry. I've bought almost all of the rifftrax. I'm a hardcore fan.

The new web design has apparently screwed up my simple purchasing process.

If I have to re-register, it should be made clear that that's what I'm doing. But I'm not sure what I'm doing and I don't want to create another account if I can still use my first one.

I didn't mean the first time you purchased.  When Torgo and JP released the new site design (a few weeks ago maybe), everyone had to register again.  The new site is going to keep track of more things than the old one did.  The old one never really had an "account" section or anything like that.  This one is integrated with an account database.

I had to reregister.  I've read posts of others who did.  I'm sure a mod will answer but if you're jonesing for a trax right now, I'm pretty sure you have register with the new database system.

yeah, I'm with ya Tor I'd been buying these forever now... lol rifftrax isn't very old to begin with... but now they have the nerve to call me a new member :)

Do what we all did I guess and sign up for a "new member account", the new site is great though, its really cool that you can go back to your recites through your account profile (also as a word to the wise Tor: that is the only way to get your trax so do some site searching because its different than it was).

OK, thanks all. I'm trying...

Tor hope "Tor" still available....

...

Hey, wait a sec,

why does my "TOR" login still work?

OK, I'm confused again.

At the top of the page it says "Hello TOR". Am I still a member or not? I'd appreciate any further assistance. This is why it is so frustrating. I'm being logged in as TOR... but I'm not a member? Con-fu-sing. (you'll notice I'm calmer now not saying F*-**ING con-fu-sing).

Thanks a lot for your replies.

The registration you complete to buy a Rifftrax is different than your forum registration. You get to keep your forum account, and now you've tied a Rifftrax account to it where you can access your downloads and stuff. :^)

Thanks for the info mate.

It gave me the courage to go through the process, and guess what? It sucked.

Without going into detail, I did not get my download directly.

I had to go to my email address and get it from there. Grade: D+

But I have my Troll 2 rifftrax and I'm on to the show.

Thanks again members for all the help.

Eh. It only bothered me because I didn't know it was going to happen.

Geez calm down.

Rifftrax now has it's own store like say, Amazon.com, you now get a store account, this is seperate from your forum account. Now after you fill your cart you have options on how to pay, coupons/certifcates eventually, Credit Card (without PAYPAL) and PAYPAL and whatever methods your PAYPAL account offers you. You do get it straight away, one link is emailed to you, and one link is added to your account. Go take a look, it will still be there.

I know new things are scary, but it's now a more fully featured online store rather than links to purchase things through PAYPAL.

We have instructions on the confirmation page about where to go to retrieve your downloads. Yes it's a couple of clicks away, but it's better than having to wait for an email.

Conor

One click with credit cards, two with paypal, no waiting for emails necessary.  Absolutely 100% not a major inconvenience.

J-Proof

Yes all, do settle down =)

The deal-e-o is thus:

With the former site we had three, count em, three cart systems running through it because of extreme limitations through Paypal/EJunkie/Ebay etc etc. This, coupled with the fact that we had no easy way to update the site if a new product was released caused for major back-aches on both ends.

With the current setup, you resubmit your information (all of which is a one-time AND NECESSARY deal*) and the benefits are numerous: The system knows who you are when you want to order something, and your shipping address is memorized for DVD and other giftshop purchases.

When you think about it, paypal asked for far more information than our system (such as your bank account number if you are an actual paypal member...) and certain items in the old system had the potential to cause continuous re-submission of information (new gift items etc etc)

So really, resubmitting your data this one time shouldn't be that big a deal - The overall process of ordering future items is so much simpler this way, and that is our overall goal for the consumer. We have tested the cart a variety of diferent times ourselves, using our own cards to purchase items and discussed what would be easiest. (And no, keeping the old site's operating system was not an option)

Just be patient with us, Riffaholics! We love you all dearly - so eat your vegies!

*NECESSARY: In order to validate that your card actually belongs to you, ANY shopping cart on the net (that is a proper and authorized cart) will require your billing and shipping info. This is the same step that cashiers should be taking when checking your license to make sure you are who you say you are, and that the name registered on the card is the same name as the person holding it.

And if you miss the click, you don't have to go to your email.  There should be a "Your Account Area Info" link under Mike's photo on the main page.  Click there and download.

I honestly didn't notice a link to the downloads the last time I paypaled (it was probably there) but I got to them well before I got my email by going to the account link.  It's not like an extra click or two is going to give you RSI.

It probably wasn't there.  I think we've revised the process like seven different times, each time thinking "Now there is no way this could possibly confuse people".

But now, as it currently stands, there is no way it could possibly confuse people.  After your purchase, there is a link that says "Download your purchased RiffTrax here".  Click it.
