We haven't had any reports of emails getting completely lost, so far (from what we've heard) 100% of all emails have reached people. I think today was kind of a big traffic day so there might have been some instances where it took a bit longer.

Mrbakasan, have you gotten the email yet? It should have come from support at rifftrax dot com. Let us know if you don't receive it.

And yes the new Account page has access to all of your orders (starting from when the new site went live). Sorry we can't import all your older orders, that's just the nature of the beast. I know they can be imported but it wouldn't be as cost effective as everyone just signing up anew. Besides, if you need access to your previous orders, you have that ability through PayPal.

I never did recieve an email, although for some reason occasionally emails will reach me several hours after they were sent so I may get it tomorrow.  It may be an issue with my email provider, I wouldn't be suprised.  Either way I was able to download the trax very easily once I figured out how to do it.  I appreciate everyone on the board helping out.

Noooooo! The new ordering system won't accept my order - it tells me my credit card doesn't match the address I've provided, and I've tried 2 different credit cards! This never happened with PayPal.

I've gone and bought Daredevil and Troll 2 on DVD and everything!

Oh I hate those address errors, a few sites have lost orders from me because of them.

MrTorso

Can't you still select Paypal and then use your credit card with them?

D'oh! I never noticed that! Yes, of course I can still use PayPal! Many thanks for pointing that out!

And now for an evening of Daredevil and Troll 2 RiffTrax goodness...

mrbakasan

Just thought I'd let TorgosPizza know that the rifftrax emails as well as the support emails all reached me this morning at the same time.

Try formatting your street address differently - if you have a PO or Military style address, make sure there are no commas in it. We loosened the restrictions on authorize.net's security system because others were having this same issue. At least, I thought Conor had, so I will check with him today and see if that's the case.

Authorize.net is one of, if not the, biggest credit card gateways in the world, so their system should work fine. Not sure why it would be giving some of our customers (mostly those with either strange street addresses) so much trouble.

I figured out the problem - the payment system violates the rule of "dont make the user do any unnecessary steps". Basically, if a user wants to pay using paypal, they have absolutely no reason to fill out a billing and shipping address (paypal does that for you... its the whole reason you have it). Here, the users clicks on "purchase", then tries to use their forum account and it doesnt work. They register a new one and the first thing they see is "billing address" and "shipping address". Their first instinct is to press "back" on the browser and figure out where the hell they missed "pay with paypal". The shipping address also creates the perception that you'll be mailing them things, which many people are uncomfortable with.

I suggest making "pay with paypal" and "log into your account" be on the same page. Then, if you truely must have a user fill in all that stuff even though they want to pay with paypal, you should explain to them that they will shortly be able to do that after they fill in the info. If a user doesnt want to, then they simply register an account and pay with credit card.

Sorry, this is the User Interface class I took last year speaking.

Unfortunately, the new system we have in place requires accounts to be created first before any purchase is made. So far we've had ... well I won't give an exact number, but let's say a LOT - of orders, and each one of those customers has had to setup an account first. Seems like most of them have figured it out without any issue.

It'd be nice if I could customize the interface the way you described - that would make more sense logically. However, the fact is, the new system can't be switched up that way. The information is submitted from the order form itself, and the process states the direction in which the information flows.

Sorry if I'm being a negative Ned. That's just how this system works. I understand that it's an extra step, but it's only an extra step that has to be done once. Personally, I don't think that's too much to ask for the convenience of the new system - the ability to have your order history right there at your fingertips, and all products under one cart system, which was not the case before.

The cart system we have is a purchased system that allows for ease on the user's end when another purchase is being made after the first initial one. We switched /away/ from Paypal/eJunkie because it is far too limiting with what we have to do on our end to keep things organized and simple (plus people were hatin' on paypal). I'm sure you'd rather not see three cart systems going through one website (which was the case before).

I think my problem was that, as always when there are new RiffTrax available, I was a bit over-eager to get my order placed, and in my rush completely failed to notice the tiny radio button that allowed me to select to pay with PayPal. Maybe a little PayPal logo next to it would make it slightly more noticeable? In my mind, I assumed that with a new ordering system being implemented, you had stopped using PayPal.

Still, no harm done, and I certainly won't be making that mistake again  ;D

BathTub

Well the address check failed on me had to use the paypal option.
