I think the problem here is that Joel is a little too creative for his own good. He's great at coming up with new ideas on how to do things, but instead of sticking with what works, he wants to constantly tweak even the things that don't need tweaking just because that's what makes it interesting to him.

Rifftrax has gone through plenty of tweaking, too, but not just for the sake of it. When they find something that works, they go with it (i.e., the 3-riffer format, occasional guests, and shorts).

One thing that they've tried that has really worked well for them is their association with EZTakes.   I wish Rifftrax would have that option with Planet of Dinosaurs/ Voodoo Man instead of their current choices.

It's been a long wait but I'm glad to hear that we will have some more videos released before the end of the year.  If CT learns that people will still turn out to see them perform live versions of shows they've released on DVD, maybe they'll be less likely to hold off on video releases.

Bob

Per the e-mail I got from them today, there will be DVDs coming soon.   Oh, and the STL show premiers a new movie, yes, I will be there.

They've announced they are recording the next wave when they are in LA - You're kinda just yelling for the sake of yelling now.

I just looked back through the thread, and I think this is the first instance of it so I'm not sure how it could be called flogging a dead horse?

My dear man, we can call anything flogging a dead horse.

We live in high dead horse flogging times.

Well, for whatever it's worth, they've lost my interest.

QuoteThe Cinematic Titanic Panel was held at the Tivoli Theatre on Friday as part of the St. Louis International Film Festival, and first the news: The next Cinematic Titanic DVD release will be EAST MEETS WATTS, recorded during of one of their live performances. The idea is to give people a taste of what it's like to be at one of their shows. The exact release date for the DVD hasn't been finalized, but it will probably be sometime within the next month or so.

Looks like it's a live recording for the next DVD after all.

I'll give at least one of those a go...

One hour until doors open!

I am curious to see how the live DVDs look...... I mean, if they can do live concert DVDs, this should be a snap.

MrTorso

Live concerts of musicians is vastly different than people riffing on a movie.  If they did it Rifftrax live style than it might be ok. If they recorded a projected image it will look like crap.
