well, dangfish, I know how it is when things are talked up so high nothing could be that good. But perhaps now that your expectations are down, the next time you watch it you'll find it funnier.

There's a good chance that will be the case.  Lately I've noticed (with both Rifftrax and MST3k) that many episodes I've re-watched lately that I wasn't originally  crazy about  seem to improve. By the same token,  some episodes that I thought highly of tend to not be quite as enjoyable.  There's a lot to be said for expectations.

THE QUEEN!!!

Jurassic Park

This one is hilarious, except that the movie isn't "bad" enough to be as funny as some others. And though Weird Al is hilarious, I think the trax are best with three people. As in many things 3 is the magic number.

Twilight.

I posted some junk about it in the Movies forum, Twilight thread.

In short, I didn't like the movie but did like the riff.

Just finished the Dark Knight.

Currently my favourite Rifftrax, because it really has me ROTFLMAO.

Doctor Who?

Did you keep it on long enough to hear the skit at the end?  I missed it the first three times I watch it with the Rifftrack, that was my favorite part.

THE QUEEN!!!

PLAN 9 FROM OUTER SPACE ("Live")

I happened to be near Century City when Rifftrax Live was going to be playing at an AMC there. Sweet!! It was HILARIOUS!!! I want them to release this one on DVD/VOD. So funny. I've never seen the movie before and I must concur it is one of the worst movies ever made....but in a hilarious way. Great job with this one. Weird to see two people from the Sinister Urge--and two of the worst ones, too. I recommend this one to everyone.

Umm.....which were the good ones?   ;)

Top Gun. on a date.

Am I the first person to use Rifftrax to impress a girl?

The Fifth Element

One of my favoritest movies and my 2nd RT purchase evar.  Something I noticed with the riffing is that the longer spacing of the jokes works well in a solo commentary.  If it were rapid-fire and solo, I think it wouldn't have been anywhere near as good.  It would be interesting to see a three riffer edition, but I quite like the RT-forming-some-ground territory (Disembaudio is just a voice here; not a toaster) and maybe I have a tinge of nostalgia to it (if I can even call it that).

Two stand-out lines I don't remember:

[During the Pavalaguna (aka "Mrs. Blue Octopus Head") scene]:
"Papa Smurf hired Lawyer Smurf and they're going to sue the shit out of her."

And, near the end, when Leeloo is crying while reading "war" in the W section of the dictionary:
"Wait till you get to Weird Al Yankovic.  Then the tears will really start flowing."

I seethed a bit when I heard that and imagined Weird Al confronting Mike about it while recording "Jurassic Park".  Which I'm sure didn't actually happen for a myriad of reasons.

I'm sure Al would have taken the joke in stride.  Coincidentally, when Weird Al made an appearance on the The Donny and Marie Show, they confronted Al about the bit at the beginning of Achy Breaky Song where he sings, "You can torture me with Donny and Marie." They pretended to be angry at first, but they were really OK with it. Later Donny showed up in Al's White and Nerdy video. I think the only episodes of VH1's Behind The Music that didn't involve excessive drug and alcohol use were the "Weird Al" and "Donny and Marie" shows.

Right, which is why I said "...I'm sure didn't actually happen for a myriad of reasons."  I really just wondered if Mike woulda picked a different name if he knew he was going to a record a RiffTrax in the future with him.  It's still a very funny joke which rang especially hilarious for me cuz I have a friend who detests Weird Al (don't ask).  Didn't know that about The Donny & Marie Show.  That's great!  It's the nicest people who take the jokes the best and it just makes you love 'em even more.

Plus it's not unusual for Mike to make jokes about Kevin or Bill and vice versa. It's all in good fun.
