This killed John Travolta

When his career was revitalized after Pulp Fiction, John was the cool guy again, reliving those glory days he didn't see since Saturday Night Fever. But then, well, this movie came out and surely his image as a cool guy eroded down to the same level he was at when he did Look Who's Talking 2... Pulp Fiction I think was the climax, and now we are just seeing a slow decline.

I love Pulp Fiction, but I think I might prefer Get Shorty.  But I agree, he hasn't come close to those two films.

Chili Palmer was a flat, undynamic version of Vince Vega. The only difference was the heroin. Doing heroin gave Vince three dimensions. Chili Palmer had what? The jacket? The catch phrase "Look at me"? Lifeless. I don't advocate the use of narcotics, but it made Travolta interesting in Pulp Fiction, and the lack of it made him boring in Get Shorty.

hes dead?  YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY

oh wait you meant metaphoricalllgicallly right ?

Hank

Too bad for Babarino...

His church calls him to do a film, and it's career cancer

Mel Gibson does a film (for his church) and even bashing the Jews can't stop the money and accolades rolling in.

???  :D

This SHOULD have killed him; if this didn't, then I doubt a nuclear bomb would have

Or maybe B.E. was the nuclear bomb?

Nope.
See "Swordfish".

Wait, are you saying swordfish was worse or better...either way, Travolta's done worse, like "the punisher" or "Broken Arrow"

Broken Arrow came out before "BE"; I had forgotten about The Punisher.
Swordfish came out after "BE" and certainly did nothing to help his career.

I know, I meant in general. But the tougher question is can we think of a "good" travolta movie from recent years? I'm somewhat at a loss...

He was briefly in Goldmember, does that count?

as a good movie?  NO certainly not

Well, it made a fortune,
and I laughed despite the stupidity of it

According to Box Office Mojo, this film's budget was 73 million, made a total of 29 million worldwide.

think he meant Goldmember.

My mistake. Besides Battlefield Earth being a big budget flop sponsored by a cult. It reminds me of another film sponsored by a cult that flopped worse than B.E. did. It was called Inchon and it was sponsored by the Moonie cult. Cost a total of 90 million to make and it only made 5 thousand dollars in the theaters. I remember someone selling an actual copy of the film(since no vhs or dvd exists of it) on ebay.
