Please aid me in shunting away this stupid Trivia Question Mindworm. 

That snippet of song that was sung in this short...What early 1970s cop show was this the theme to?

I would hear it all the time as a little girl, since my parents used to watch it, but Dad is gone, and Mom's too old to recall it. 

The next line of it went "When the going/gets narrow..." and then "Don't do the crime if ya can't do the time."

Since I got into watching Streets of San Francisco as an adult because it's entertaining to me as a resident of SF, I can rule that one out.  Was it McCloud? Ironsides? McQ? Or a different one?

This was the theme to a 70's detective show called "Baretta". The first season is on DVD, if you're curious.
