With all due respect to Michael J. Nelson... LAY OFF Rachel Ray will you please???? I mean she gets on TV and shows people how to make delicious, healthy food, I mean jeez >:(!!!

Tyrant

I think she annoys people because she has 4,000 + shows on the Food Network.

It's pretty impressive that she went up against certified chefs in Iron Chef as an uncertified  humble "cook, not chef" and still won.

I can't stand her.....also my sisters friends parents (wheeeww) went on a safari in africa with her (I know strange) and they said she was a meanie.

Rachel Ray is the most annoying food network chef on TV.  Her food is pretty unhealthy too.  It's also generally unappetizing to me.  People like Giada, even if they're making something I wouldn't want to eat, at least make it look good.  Her use of hand gestures, her constant "EVOO, that's extra virgin olive oil" (if you're going to say the whole thing EVERY time, then why even use the abbreviation), her annoying laugh, I could go on and on.

There's a whole community dedicated to hating Rachel Ray, I eavesdropped on them for a week and they're really psycho about it.  I just change the channel.

As for her winning on Iron Chef, I think the reason they did a "combo" battle was because she wouldn't have been able to do it on her own.  Besides the entire thing being the WWF of foodies, you could tell watching her that she wasn't "trained."  Bobby Flayva Flay won against Morimoto. You can't tell me that thing isn't rigged.

I say, go for it Mike.

BTW, I met her, very briefly, when she did a show about the area since I do restaurant reviews.  She was a real bitch but I didn't like her before that.  I kinda always figured she was a bitch.  She wasn't a bitch to me, mind you, but to the waiters at this place and to the other customers, gah.

Ray is annoying... and she didn't win that challenge, Mario won it for her. Giada is a much better chef, a far easier-to-watch person because she's not annoying, and Giada is dang sexy. (She also, btw, was a sue[sp?] chef for one of my relative's restaurants in LA a little while back before landing it big on tv.)

Rachel Ray's voice is like being forced to listen to jackasses at school dances suck helium from balloons and talk all around you.... FREAKING annoying....AAAAH

Tho I have never met her in person so whatev'.......

Hey, I like Rachel Ray!!!

(that was an unintentional rhyme, but a welcome one!)

I think most people are annoyed by her voice/accent/talkativeness, but I don't mind it. I make fun of her in that respect, but I still like her.

What's more annoying is the damn theme songs to her shows 30 Minute Meals and Rachel Ray's Tasty Travels with that blasted "Money money money!" line. I HATE IT!!!!

I think they overdo the camerawork on Giada's show, what with the closeups and the overuse of sound and the rich, filmlike look of the show. It almost plays out like a movie. It's so darn manufactured.

Also, to those who met her only once(or maybe twice), don't judge her from that. I've met plenty of celebs, and sometimes they can be rude, but unless you were popular for some reason and had to deal with the public constantly bugging you, you might be cranky too. Plus there's jet lag and such to deal with. Now, if you met her several times in the same setting and tried to be friendly but it just wasn't returned, then that's different. Don't hate is all's I'm sayin'.

True of Giada's show and she never cooks anything I'd actually make. I do like the closeups of knifework and such, something we never get with Ray.  Who cooks in outfits like those anyway?

I won't judge her as a person but she wasn't being hounded for an autograph or anything when I met her. She literally barked out orders, in front of a couple, to have them replaced with someone more attractive or leave the table empty. She was also very belittling to her server and made sure he knew his place on the totem pole.  I understand she's Hollywood and I understand all of that is part of her show and on TV, everything is "controlled" but no matter how famous you are, there is no excuse for rudeness.  She was possibly just off a plane or she could have been having a bad night, I agree, but I didn't like her before and that just backed me up.  I was only around her for 5-10 minutes (they had me cleared out too  ;D) so I'm not claiming to be an expert.  She could have apologized for all I know.

I've never really met a nice celeb.  I've met some who aren't rude though.  I'm sure nice celebs do exist somewhere but what would they be doing down here in Arkansas?  I sure wouldn't be here if I were them.

And it's Sous, heh.

I have always HATED Rachael Ray, and I am glad that Mike and I have that in common. She is a very annoying human, more so than Oprah, Janice Dickinson, Tyra, or any of the Laguna Beach girls. And the fact that she has 17 tv shows and is on every friggin snack food sucks. Everything that Amanda and Saucy have said confirms what I have known all along. Phonier than Meridith Viera.

So Mike, listen here: Don't Stop! Keep it coming... you know, at the opportune times. ;)

I've never really met a nice celeb.

Ron Glass - Shepherd Book in Firefly, Ron Harris of Barney Miller: Very nice celeb!!

Alan Tudyk - Wash in Firefly, Gerhardt in 28 Days, Steve the Pirate in Dodgeball: Very nice celeb!

Marc Singer - Dar in The Beastmaster: Very nice celeb!

Anthony Daniels - the one and only C3PO in Star Wars: Very nice celeb!

Ray Park - Darth Maul in The Phantom Menace, Toad in X-Men: Very nice celeb!

Granted, I met them all at conventions, but still, I consider them celebrities.

Sure, none of these celebs are the most sought after nowadays, but they're very nice people, and in a busy convention setting, it requires them to meet hundreds and hundreds of people for hours on end, and they never acted rude. Very nice of them.

What about Mal, is his attitude like his namesake? or Jayne?

Haven't met either of them, though I had the chance to meet Jayne but didn't go. That was before I became a fan of Firefly. My boss met him, however, and said he was very nice.

SecretAgentSuperDragon

I KNEW IT. The Hero of Canton.

mrbasehart

A buddy of mine is a convention fanatic, and he's met practically all of the cast of Battlestar Galactica and Serenity.  He says most of them were really nice (and Katee Sackhoff was wearing an extra low shirt for the boys, apparently).  The only person he had a problem with was Carrie Fisher, who you weren't allowed to ask questions.

SecretAgentSuperDragon

Probably because she is clinically crazy now and will actually shoot you with her blaster if you even look  in her direction. ;)
