Personally, I'm sick and tired of "comedians" using absolutely anything they want for a butt of a joke. Enough about that free speech bullshit. Sometimes they should just shut their fucking mouths.

Without free speech you wouldn't be able to make that statement right there. Thought I should mention that.

True. What I mean to say is I'm tired of people using the free speech/artistic vision explanation as an excuse to offend. Stirring up controversy for the sake of stirring up controversy is quite annoying and wrong IMHO.

To me, this is the first honorable things he's done.  He realizes that he has no credibility to be concerned with, so he can now do whatever he wants.  I mean, can he really get more hated as a director?  It sounds like he's just shouting Jehovah as he's being stoned to death.

It's a shame that I probably won't like the film.  A man in his position has the potential to create a very powerful statement since he's able to say whatever the hell he wants.  But I'm not a big fan of fart jokes.

Then don't buy their crap.  The free market is the greatest democracy.

And now instead of just feeling contempt for Uwe Boll, I actively hate him.
And yet if I were to kill Uwe Boll, I'd be the one to go to prison.  It makes no sense.

Man I hope this gets boycotted by the theater chains and it shows in two theaters in Hollywood and New York.

Wait... who tried to make this a free speech issue?

He isn't butting up against the MPAA fighting a NC17 rating defending his "art"...

If you don't agree with what he's putting on film (and since House of the Dead, you shouldn't be), vote with your wallet, and don't watch it.

Maybe Boll reached the stage most artists reach when, if they can't 1) please people or 2) interest people in their work, they go for the third option: how many people can they offend.

It's a sad stage to be in (I've nearly crossed into it myself once or twice) when the only emotion you choose to incite in people are those of the negative variety.

Regardless, it's as simple as not going to see the movie to make your own statement about the subject matter.

to quote myself from an IM comversation about this mess:

"Uwe Boll could kick Satan in the nads, and the entire Christian faith would feel for Satan"

Statements like these are the quickest path to something akin to "We're not forcing you to watch this snuff film, so it's ok that it exists."

True, what I just stated is on the extreme end of the argument, but it's valid nonetheless.

No, it's not. A film simulating someone's death violates NO ONE's rights, and a free market economy means, if enough people choose to ignore it, then it will go away; whereas a snuff film results in someone being dead, whether you view it or not.

Unpopular speech is the speech most worth protecting.

I can't believe that a conversation about a horrible German director has somehow turned into an issue about free speech.

It's a movie based on a offensive video game.. what's the problem here?  It's going to come out and tank.. big whoop.

He's welcome to make any joke he wants about anything he wants... in the end, the biggest joke is himself.

Tyrant

That's just the thing. He's going to make himself look bad. People protesting the movie won't have to do much work at all. In fact, people protesting it is what he wants because it will get him and his movie attention.

Instead of being a modern day B-movie director, suddenly he'll be an "edgy, risktaking" director going places no one dares to go. I think instead of trying to make a true statement, he's just trying to get a rise out of everyone. Although he's got to the right to do anything he wants in his movies, I think it's a pretty sad reason to do anything with your media.

Phantom of Krankor

Okay, its official, the man is completely nuts. Even Ed Wood's "Glen or Glenda" would have more decency than what it looks like he's going to do.
I am Ambassador Phantom, from the planet Krankor! I am rapidly approaching your planet... in the warship, which you have just seen. I will arrive tomorrow night at precisely eight o'clock. At that time I shall make my wishes known to you. You will obey them... or die! HA! HA! HA! HA! HA! HA! HA!

I really do think a lot of people are making a mountain out of a molehill (bollhill?) here.  This movie is going to tank.  Nobody's going to be talking about it a year from now, because nobody's going to go see it.  I read the article and already have forgotten the title of the movie.  It's not going to be controversial because nobody gives a shit about Uwe Boll movies except for Uwe Boll.  And maybe Mrs. Boll.  And all the little Bollings.  Those poor kids.  I can't imagine growing up in a world where I'm forced to watch my dad's crappy movies.  Wait.  Yes I can.  Except, for me, instead of having to watch video game movies that contain scenes of vast, ugly darkness and ineptitude, the horrors of my childhood were mainly just slightly out-of-focus slides of pictures of Mount Rushmore and the Badlands.

Anyway, any movie where Dave Foley is the most well-known name in it?  Direct-to-DVD.

Going to tank?  no way.  Even the article realizes the controversy alone will get him the money back plus some.

He hasnt gone insane, to me this proves two things very clearly:

A) he makes bad movies and very good business descisions and is able to sell his ideas easily to those who have money

B)  he hates americans, he is willing to feed us crap just so he can make money.  Everything american he despises.

if this movie tanks ill eat my BDUS,  and he is now on my beat down on site list.  right next Micheal moore.

As to free speech.  I do think censorship is not always a bad thing.  I am persoanally not of the belief that if people can say then they should automatically be allowed to say it.  Quite frankly the law agrees with me.  There are quite a lot of things that you cant say do to safety.  Inciteful speech is illeagal as well.  I am not sure if this film needs to be censored though.  All my emotions say hell yea, but my rational brain doesnt nessicarily agree.

In the end the bottom line is "I will now forever Hate Uwe Bolls work"
