Anyone else think some of Joel's Riffs are not loud enough?

Am I only the only one that thinks some of Joel's Riffs are kinda quiet?

Maybe its because I inputted the rifftrax and Movie Audio in Audacity and used Auto Ducking but I noticed quite a few of the Riff lines were pretty low and could barely be heard. I've done with with pretty much every Rifftrax released to date and haven't had this problem before.

I thought about just increasing the Volume on the Rifftrax track but most of the Riffs are at a good volume and would make them much too loud.

It just seems a lot of his lines he whispered while Mike is loud and clear. This prob wouldn't be a big deal but in this movie with all the loud sound effects a lot of the riffs can be hard to hear.

I remember something kinda like this happened to Chad Vader Lines in the Empire Strikes back Riff. Where his Riffs were lower than Mike, Kevin and Bill's. Hoping this can be corrected?

I am also using the 2 Disc collector's Edition DVD, not sure if that would make a difference.

Can someone please check this out? Or maybe I'm just going crazy.

Yep, you're not the only one. I didn't do anything special to it. Some of his lines were mumbled and I couldn't make out what he was saying. Guess he could have used some booming lessons from Mike.
I know you are but what am I

A few of the lines I turned up a bit (mostly during the gun fights), but I didn't see much of a problem. I changed the tracks in Audacity for this one as +6 for the movie and -3 for the riff, but I went through the movie's track and changed the amplification during the fight scenes so I could hear the guys talk.

Well I manually went back amplified Joel's Lines. Its pretty insane and took me a few hours but I am crazy like that :-)

I missed a bunch of funny lines that I missed the first time. Here;s hoping Joel comes back again. Just hope next time his lines are the same level as Mike's :-)

I agree.  I can't watch it like this.  I guess I'll have to amplify most of Joel's lines in Audacity.  I'm not looking forward to that.  Maybe Rifftrax will correct the issue before I try it (HINT HINT).

I used the maximize volume feature in Goldwave, that seems to have fixed alot of the low volume issues for me.

Yeah, me too.  I really didn't appreciate until now just how good Mike, Kevin, and Bill's voices are for this sort of thing.  They always speak clearly, and don't trail off at the end of sentences (unlike Joel McHale).  Stupid rookie.

There was a few times with both of them I couldn't hear them.  I am going to do another mix for my DVD.

Or maybe from Billy Ma....oh, right.

I found the problem to be with the movie itself. The talking scenes are all really quiet and the action scenes are all really loud. Since I was watching it manually, I adjusted the movie volume depending on the type of scene, but it didn't help that Joel's voice doesn't carry very much.

There were definitely some problems with the audio mix on this track, mostly with Joel's lines, but occasionally with Mike's lines as well.  I had to finally turn the riff all the way up (100%) and bring the movie way down (45%).

I suppose I could manually edit the track with Goldwave or CoolEdit and bring Joel's lines up in the mix, but it would take a while.

It would be nice if RiffTrax could re-mix this track and offer it for download.  There's some very, very funny stuff in here.

If you're using Goldwave and the voiceover plugin, you also have access to a plugin called "Auto-gain".  I found using the "Adjust to 50%" preset on the riff evened things out pretty well.

Good to know. I have been using goldwave for a long time and I am still learning new things.

Now would that help to even out the movie .wav that has quiet talking parts and loud explosions and gunfire?

I do it "analog", i.e. just burn a CD and play it along with the movie, but I also had problems with the the sound levels.  I know it's hard with any whisper/scream movie but this one really was hard to adjust.  If they do pump the Joel audio a bit I'd try it again.
