If I already have a dvdrip of the movie as an avi file from a torrent site, is the riff sync-able to that?

It should.  As long as the movie starts before the "Wiseau Films" logo appears and runs all the way until the end credits.  It worked for me.  I had to do some cutting and pasting in Audacity, like I always do, but the amount I cut according to the cues in the Rifftrax opening was about two seconds too many.  But then, this has been the case with reauthors off standard DVDs before too.

I never listen to Rifftrax in the regular way.   I always do reauthors, so technically the Rifftrax file I use is a bit different from the one downloaded from the site.

Is this Lisa trying to tear Wiseau Films apart through file sharing??

I doubt it will, because I tried to reauthor The Room using a downloaded version and half way through the audio on one or the other drifted by a second or more. The same thing happens in a lot of downloaded movies (I experimented using the movies I own).

If you want to download one that works you need to find one that is a DVD rip that didn't convert the movie into another format like avi, or possibly mpeg.

It just doesn't work.

I doubt it would work if you tried it using two separate video players (one for the movie, one of the riff) because of said drift.

Just buy it legally. No one wants to own The Room. If you'd rather not own a copy of The Room then wait for some kind pirate to put the full thing with Rifftrax included onto some bittorrent site. And then donate ten dollars to Rifftrax for stealing their riff, even if you already paid for it.

I used this one, and although I did have to use DVD Flick to convert it to a DVD format first, it worked fine.

I tried it through an external hard drive via my Xbox, and it worked okay, no more than the usual drift for DVDs. I got the movie about a year ago, when it wasn't widely available on DVD, and since I already had it, I thought what the hell?

That being said, when I tried to watch it before there was a riff for it, I only got about 20 minutes in.

That sounds a lie Lisa would make up.

But she's so beautiful, does it matter?
