This is absolutely freakin' weird, one of those coinky-dinks that only happen ... well, never.

William Beaudine is the director of the erstwhile Voodoo Man, n'est ce pas? Well, I gave up part way into the Rifftrax of Voodoo Man due to the ducking problems (see other thread), so I decided to watch something else. Popped in a copy of a 1987 TV production of "The Spirit," starring Sam Jones ("Flash! Ah-ahh!") and Nana Visitor (Deep Space 9, anyone?). Only got a minute into it because, get this, the beginning credits list a "William Beaudine, Jr." as the co-producer!

Weirder and weirder, eh? Turns out, Junior really is William Beaudine's son. I did some digging on IMDB (strangely enough, "The Spirit" isn't listed under Junior's credits) and found some weird parallels:  Beaudine Senior directed some episodes of The Green Hornet TV-series. Funny that Junior would sort of follow in daddy's footsteps and co-produce another masked hero production.

Turns out Senior has directed some prime cheese along the way, too. Any chance that Jesse James Meets Frankenstein's Daughter or Billy the Kid vs. Dracula will end up getting riffed in the future?   :)

I sure hope so, he was nicknamed William "One Shot" Beaudine for his habbit of NEVER reshooting a scene no matter what.

THAT is riffing gold.

Looks like Voodoo Man isn't the first time these guys have riffed a Beaudine production. Turns out ole William directed the "classic" Design for Dreaming! Remember, the short that rain before 12 to the Moon? The screen gem that touted GM cars and "modern" kitchen appliances? The short that inspired Bridget to become Nuveena?

Yeah, I thought that would get your attention.

Looking back over Beaudine Senior's oeuvre http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0064415/, there's an embarrassment of riches for riffing. How about The Ape Man, another Bela Lugosi flick?

Just the names of some of his movies seem perfect for riffing.

"A Boob for Luck ".................... now THAT just writes itself.
