The should really attempt something in the Midwesten area of our nation...

As someone who lives not too far from Tarantulas, I couldn't agree more.

I saw Mike and the gang in St. Louis a few years ago and it was a blast.

How the hell did I miss this ?  ???

Seeing them in 2002 at D*Con was a dream come true.

I remember when Mike and Kevin hosted Iron Artist, at one point right before the panel started Mike walked behind a rear projection screen they had in front of the room and his shadow was cast perfectly on the screen.  Needless to say the room went crazy, I don't think Mike even noticed it happend, but it was great.

If I remember correctly later on Kevin stole some poor Canadian guys shoe.

To have them do a live version of Rifftrax I would give my left..well anything.

...wouldn't anyone showing a dvd and rifftrax combo still be liable for showing a movie in public? You have to get permissions for that sort of thing (see: the disclaimer at the front of every DVD/Video/Betamax/Porn).

The most they'd be able to do is show clips, right?

Its a Con, they have rooms that play nothing but Anime 24/7 and Sci-fi big budget movies 24/7 as part of the actual Convention.  I doubt one showing of something would cause much of an uproar, they even have a television channel (DCTV) that plays anime and fanfilms and such 24/7 pumped into the rooms of 2 40 story hotels.

Yes, but the question was is it legal, and most of the above is probably not.

First of all, I want to say this:

"MIGH-TY RO-BOTS! Mighty VEHICLES! GO-BOTS!"

Now that I have that off my chest...

Whatever legal requirements there are for a live Rifftrax show would still be the same. It shouldn't be any more OR less difficult.

I'm 100% behind this effort, but isn't this like the 3rd thread on this topic?  Maybe we can combine the conversation to better focus the effort.

Anyone can show a screening of a movie as long as they get permission and pay the screening fee, just like any regular theater has to.  That's what they did for the RiffTrax live.

Yes, that is what they would have to do to make it legal. That was the entire point.
