Wow!

I stumble upon this thing more than 2 and a half years after the last post and 2 things occur to me ...

1) I cannot believe the world (I searched the web before posting this) has so little credible information about a major food product that was sold in grocery stores all over this country, and ...

2) Reading this has given me a powerful desire to have a Hamdinger ... and it saddens me to know I can't.

I grew up in Waukesha, Wisconsin and my Mom made us Hamdingers for a while ... sometimes she would just fry up the patties and serve them on a plate with peas and au grauten potatoes or similar side dishes, and sometimes we would have them in sandwhiches. They were processed pork product shaped into a circular patty, and a bunch of them would come in a roll with pieces of a waxy paper separating each patty, and the roll would come in a box. So it's pretty much like the guys describe them, except I wouldn't agree they were deviled. They were just a lot like spam only much better tasting (never liked spam much), but I guess they never caught on because of the name.

Although the TV commercial jingle was pretty catchy; "Hamdingers, Hamdingers, hamburgers made from ham. Hamdingers, ham patties, are the best hamburgers you've ever had....hamdingers!"

Anyway, I know I'm resurrecting a thread that's been dead for years, but I couldn't help it. I want a Hamdinger ... NOW!

Well, I've done some internet sleuthing, and after figuring that 3190 inaccurate google search results and one deleted Wikipedia article didn't do Hamdingers any justice, I searched the Copyright, Patent and Trademark databases online.

"Hamdingers" was trademarked (filed 1976/registered 1976) by Patrick Cudahy Inc. of Cudahy, Wisconsin. I've written them and am waiting for their response with more supporting information. I'll update here when I get that info.
