It was certainly a very dull movie, and their needs to be a sense of awe and wonder as well as humour and family fun.  So who would be the best director for this project?

Anyone who's capable of putting Galacticus (the real mo'fo, not the stupid, stupid completely unimpressive and totally disappointing cosmic mist) into the movie and making him look awesome and terrifying despite the purple.

Yeah, I certainly don't mind the idea of Galactus having a non-human form, but  a cloud?  Weak.

Okay, I'm gonna say it: Robert Rodriguez.

Interesting choice.  The guy did do some family films.  Personally, I think he's more suited to doing something more straightfoward actiony.  Like Iron Fist (can you believe that's getting cancelled?  That's a friggin' crime.)

Well, he seems good with family dynamics, which is something that sets the Fantastic Four apart from virtually every other superhero team. The characters have pre-existing relationships outside of all of them having super-powers. I think it's really important for a script and direction to take that fact into account.

You know what? Robert Zemeckis. Now don't think of Beowulf when I mention that. Think more along the lines of Back to the Future.

I want to see The Fantastic Bratpop made into a movie.  Starring Neil Patrick Harris as The Fantastic Bratpop and everyone else who he's trying to pick a fight with.  The only person he fights is a cameo of Ben Stiller, and Stiller dies.  Off screen.

I think Alex Proyas could make a really good shot at it.

The same Alex Proyas who directed Know1ng? And you think that'd be a bigger hit, huh?

So, John Waters then? :)

Secondly, I thought the second F4 movie, despite the terrible Sue and Reed casting was better than the first movie.  (though I was bitterly disappointed that we didn't get to see Galactus)

Yes, the same Alex Proyas.  I don't know or care how big a hit it would be, if you'd care to pay attention to the thread instead of being a worthlessly negative prick you'd see we were discussing directors who'd bring the film more visual flair.
