"We're writing our ninth movie now since we started, and we're toying with whether we should be doing studio shows anymore: Should we be doing just live shows and recording [them]?"

Open note to Cinematic Titanic:

Should The Beatles have stopped recording in the studio and just recorded their concerts?

You have my answer.

Comparing Cinematric Titanic to the Beatles? BIT of a stretch. Travelling Wilburys, maybe.

Imagine "I Am The Walrus" or "Strawberry Fields Forever" performed live....

mrbasehart

Heh.  If the Beatles abandoned studio albums and recorded their concerts, they wouldn't have made any albums after 1966.  :)

Well, there would've been that single release a few years later, but still...

bratpop

I'm not seeing the connection. Cinematic Titanic = I Am The Walrus now?

If any band did it it would be detrimental to their work, I think is the point.
FINE

So if we play it backward will it say Frank is Dead or Joel is the Walrus?
I survived the San Diego Comic Con 2010 Hall H stabbing.

Do you honestly not understand the point?

If the Cin Tit crew sees this, they'll understand.

bratpop

They didn't even understand that people might call them Cin Tit, so I wouldn't put money on it.

I agree with most other posters here in that I think both are great.  I don't want to see the studio DVDs disappear, because I like having a kind of "MST3k-like" show to watch... but I certainly appreciate the more spontaneous feel of the Live shows.

I'd be glad to keep supporting both, even if it means a few extra peanut butter sandwich lunches.   ;D

Why, they are coming to St. Louis again on November 21.   So, that makes two trips to STL and none to the Carolinas.   Yup, they are smart cookies for sure!
