I know about Carnival and Swing Parade. In fact, I thought Carnival would come out today. The Missile to the Moon retread was completely unexpected.

Yeah, unexpected and relatively absurd to boot.  Are they going to do a 3-riffer version of Troll 2 also?!

What a fantastic and relatively absurd idea!

Thanks for coming up with that idea. I was thinking about a three-riffer version of Troll 2.

I didn't expect a re-riff of Missile to the Moon, but at least it will now feel like an MST3K episode.

You know, I usually don't second guess or criticize a release, but I really don't see the reason behind this. What, are they going to do a three riffer version of Willy Wonka, Jurassic Park, Glitter, Troll 2, Next, and Ocean's Eleven as well?
I survived the San Diego Comic Con 2010 Hall H stabbing.

Yeah, see, this is what happens when I fall asleep at work.  I skim a thread, post, and inadvetantly repeat ManUnderMask.  Every time.  You get credit for thinking of it first, definitely....  **yawn**  I am going back to sleep.

Well since the last 8 Rifftrax releases have all been short or movie "oldies" - nothing I'd consider "new-ish" or recent mainstream - I'm guessing the boys simply got together once or twice and did marathon riff sessions to get them done and out of the way. Just a guess..

Personally I prefer the newer movie riffs more than the oldies. The old ones obviously had some charm and are a great big target to aim at, but part of the charm of MST3K was that you expected that, and you really had no choice anyway. Now we have a choice...

I'm not really complaining, but it would have been great to have something newer to experience lately. The last mainstream movie they riffed was Star Wars IV, seven weeks ago.

Have patience, they've already said there is a newer one coming up soon. (Next week, I think?)

Amen!

In this forum, I'm pretty sure patience is substituted with sufficient amounts of alcoholic beverage. ;D

Not to fill this board with complaining (any more than there already is....), but I still think the wiser move would be to redo all of these older movies, and simply inject them into the normal flow of newer movies.  In short, release them in the midst of the new ones.  New new old, new old new, new new old, and so on....

Aside from that, I am enjoying all of these..... now gimme something new!!!

As is the way of things...  "now for something completely different!"  or at least "New new old, new old new, new new old, and so on...."

Hey torgosPizza I have a quick question, would those of us who bought the Fred Willard VOD version get the option of "riff-less" audio so we can enjoy the new 3 riffer version without having to buy the new VOD?

We just watched the 3-riffer version.

We loved the Fred Willard take, he was a great guest and we would love for him to come by again, but I have to say, the boys were really "on" in their take and we really loved that too.

These old MST3K-style movies really work so well, I'm super-excited about the upcoming Planet of the Dinosaurs and I hope it does really well so that we can expect more of these kinds of riffs!

(Plus, more DVDs when you have another stock-pile of movies!)

I second all of that.

And I will third it.     Just watched this and I preferred this over the Fred Willard version as well. It's hard to beat the trio when they are 'on.'
