Hi,
I  had been watching old mst movies to get my comic fix, and went on line to order more of the old mst movies and you can imagine my thrill when I discovered that mst3k didn't die, but became resurrected as rifftrax.   Since then my husband and I have watched quite a few of the on-line stuff and the comedy never disappoints.  We're also going to buy 2 deluxe recliners and set them up in front of the computer so we can relax while we're watching it on the computer.  Also looking to buy a bigger computer screen just so I can view rifftrax movies better.

I'd like to update the rifftrax comics on my situation and take another minute to thank the fantastic comics again.
I'm not sure if the rifftrax comics read the stuff on this forum, but here's my story for all who'd like to read it:

When mst3k went off air I was really saddened. (not like stalker saddened; but just, oh no! saddened because   my favorite comedy show is gone.)   I decided to write the fine comics to tell them how much of an impact their comedy made on me.

I'll share how mst changed my life:

You see,  I was never what you'd  call a humorous person.  I had a quota of cracking maybe 2 jokes a year and wasn't very interested in filling that quota either.   Comedy wasn't one of my priorities in life.
I got married  (needless to say he didn't marry me for my great sense of humor – I think it was my enigmatic charm, but I'm digressing)  anyway  I became physically  plagued by an illness that cramps my muscles.  It's especially bad in the cold winter season, and unfortunately my husband lived in a cold climate.  I was bedridden much of the winter and the doctors weren't able to diagnose what was wrong.  I was a depressed heap of misery and that's no exaggeration because being bedridden and undiagnosed really was too stressful.
My husband always had a sense of humor, although I thought it wasn't very refined, however he did try to bring humor into my life.  One day he was channel  surfing and discovered mst3k on t.v.   We watched it; me while I was crippled in bed, and him by my side.   We started to laugh so much that it acted like a pain killer for me.  The pain versus laughter would become too much adrenalin for me and I'd fall asleep exhausted, so we'd end up taping the mst movies and watch them over and over from the points where I had fallen asleep.
During this process something amazing happened.  I started to view everything through the eyes of mst humor.   Another amazing thing happened....  my husband started to refine his humor so it was actually funny and not just stupid.    Over the years my husband and I have built up such a humor relationship that he often says I should write comedy.   This is a complete difference from the person he married.  The humor helped me deal with the health problems I was having.  We still talk about how that changed both of our lives.    I was still a depressed heap of misery, but I was a funny depressed heap of misery, and mst3k comic stylings gave me the ability to apply that kind of humor in my life so I approached my situation altogether differently.  I looked at ways to laugh at everything in true mst style.  It became our little contest to make jokes that were fit for mst.  Our lives became fun in spite of whatever health problems I was going through; which is a good thing because as time goes on a relationship needs something more solid and humor has been that glue in our relationship.  There isn't a day goes by that one of us doesn't say at least one or more things   mst worthy, and it's all thanks to mst comic geniuses for their humor influence.

Before Mst  I never realized how empty my life was; void of humor.  Now, post mst, I can say that humor is the only real thing that's kept me going through some debilitating and mind numbing  health struggles.  I don't know how I ever lived without it... well... I guess I wasn't really living without humor – I was existing – that's how I see it now.

When mst3k shut down I wrote the writers, thanking them, although I don't think I got into as much detail.   Now I'd like to thank them again for rifftrax.

It's winter season again and I'm in a cold location, (planning on moving in a few years to a warmer climate but that takes financial planning and time)  so it's not a real good time of year for me.  My health situation has been diagnosed and is under control but the cold cramps the muscles and makes it more difficult,   and my husband reminds me that we need to watch some rifftrax to get my mind back on track.
He's so right.
A few weeks ago we revisited the old mst classic movie  Agent for Harm, and if you haven't seen it I really recommend it.  Maybe I'll watch that again this weekend, or go for a new one on line with rifftrax.

Anyway, I'm not being overly dramatic when I say that these comic stylings changed my life and my marriage.  I admire the incredible genius behind this comedy.  The way it's done showed me how to look at life and apply humor.  It was like comedy 101.  I'd watch how they'd look at life through a movie and find humor in it.   I never before knew how to look at life and see humor – but thanks to these comics and the way in which it's portrayed in the movie set up, it makes it easier for me to see how humor is done.   Sometimes this winter, when my health isn't the best, I look at life like it's one big mst/rifftrax movie.

It must take hours to go over 10 seconds of movie and look at it from a comic view.  If there were a comic award I'd nominate the writers.  I only hope the comic writers have as much fun writing it as I have watching it.

And, I thought I'd post this to tell them that I'm still kicking, and that I'm still watching their stuff, and it's still such a big part of my life and its comedy is  engrained in my life now so mst comedy stylings will always be my humor brand.

A million thanks for keeping your humor alive on rifftrax and for continuing to pump out the incredible humor.
Thanks from the bottom of my heart.  Whenever I see a new rifftrax movie out I always send a little thanks your way.

With lots of admiration and appreciation to the comic writers,

Donn and Casey

Below is me in 2007, having fun on a holiday.

Sooo, that's a picture of you having fun.  A rather quiet day on the beach?

You might want to check out the short, "Self-conscious Guy"...  The tips that it has should work for self-concious girls too!  Pretty soon you'll be willing to have fun in public, without covering up your face!   :D

I remember that Readers' Digest used to have a regular feature called "Laughter, the best medicine".  Always nice to see when the simple prescription really does help someone out!
