G.I. Joe, Dragonball, and Street Fighter. A pretty solid block of cinematic stupid.

You've got a film that's trying to exploit an old franchise which is too politically incorrect to translate to film properly. Also, it has a Wayans brother.

You've got a barely coherent film based on a very hit or miss franchise, ensuring that outsiders will be confused, and fans will be complaining.

Finally, you've got a project so doomed to fail I can barely describe it. It's taking a thin concept and removing all the colorful, interesting bits that make it distinct.

The positive side: At least our bad movies aren't all going to just be sequels this year. (Though of course we can rely on Micheal Bay to deliver the goods... or, rather, bads.)

Thoughts on this year's movies?

Doctor Who?

So far i have not seen a trailer for one movie that looke good coming this year.

Looks like 2009 in going to be a very bad year for movies.

Still i can use the time to catch up on my Rifftrax.

Bad year for movies, great year for Rifftrax!  ;D
Killing me won't bring back your Goddamned honey!

Doctor Who?

Yeah that is one good thing about the Rifftrax format.

You know what the worst part is? These aren't even bad movies I'd see. I'll admit it: I have low standards. I can be entertained by trash. But most of this isn't even enticing trash!

Doctor Who?

Yeah i mean who wants to see CGI headache 2,or the Adventures of Emo Kirk?

Meh, those movies don't look promising, but there's plenty of interesting movies coming out this year.  Coraline, Push, Watchmen, Crank 2, The Brothers Bloom, The Imaginarium of Dr Parnassus, Up, Public Enemies... Maybe even Inglourious Basterds will be decent. :)

I think 2009 is looking alright right now. Watchmen, Inglourious Basterds (hail to thee Tarentino!), Up, and Scott Pilgrim vs. the World look primed to blow me away. I'm fairly optimistic about Coraline and Crank 2, cautiously optimistic about the new Friday the Thirteenth, and generally interested in Taken. I've also got my fingers crossed that Trick 'r Treat is released this year (I don't care how it's done, I'm just desperate to see that one).

Of course, this year will also show the world Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakuel, Underworld: Rise of the Lycans, and New Moon. *shudder*

Doctor Who?

I don't really like Tarentino,so the only movie i am looking forward to is Watchmen and it looks like Fox may have put the brakes on that.

Thankfully, that doesn't seem to be happening anymore: http://chud.com/articles/articles/17789/1/WATCHMEN-IT039S-SETTLIN039-TIME/Page1.html
