Like the rest of America I have yet to see it, but I am already obsessed with it for some reason. I think it's the fact that they started working on it in 1999 and you can tell from the cast - Freddie Prinze Jr, Jennifer Love Hewitt, CHRIS KATTAN and Anne "Dead since 2005" Bancroft for starters.

It may also be the fact that it has failure written all over it in broad strokes in spite of how long they worked on it. Look at this fudging poster. It says everything you need to know.

Space lizard monkeys. Kids LOVE hideous space lizard monkeys. It's science fact.

The plot isn't any better, from the sounds of it. The rotten tomatoes synopsis -
QuoteThe land of Jhamora is torn apart by the mutual prejudice of two peoples—the winged Nohrin, masters of the skies, and the terrestrial Lockni, who harness the mystical powers of the land. When Delgo (Freddie Prinze, Jr.), a reckless Lockni teenager, forms a forbidden friendship with the spunky Nohrin Princess Kyla (Jennifer Love Hewitt), hostilities between the two peoples escalate, setting the stage for an exiled Empress (Anne Bancroft) to exact her revenge and reclaim her rule.
Falsely imprisoned, Delgo and his faint-hearted best friend, Filo (Chris Kattan), must put aside their differences to join forces with a sworn enemy (Val Kilmer) and travel to the mysterious land of Perran, where they discover more than just a scorned Empress and her two bumbling servants

I would love to see a riff of this some day, I think. Maybe an iRiff. Or the less popular e-riff.

I just don't know how common the DVD's are going to be. Hopefully it goes straight to wal mart's $5 bin. 99 cent rack.

Ouch.  I feel a little sorry for the guy, but perhaps he should've started a little more modestly... Riff away!

Or not at all, perhaps

Wow...worse opening than Pluto Nash, All Dogs go to Heaven 2 AND Major League 3?

Strange, if it had such a wide release you'd think I'd have at least seen one ad or poster or something.  It's easy to have a bad opening when you don't tell anyone you made a movie in the first place.

And I don't think it's even adjusted for inflation!

The location I work at that got it is dropping it after one week.
"All I ask of you is one thing: please don't be cynical. I hate cynicism -- it's my least favorite quality and it doesn't lead anywhere.
Nobody in life gets exactly what they thought they were going to get. But if you work really hard and you're kind, amazing things will happen."

Uh, yeah... I can picture most kids saying, "What the hell is this? Am I supposed to know what this is?" and ALMOST begging their parents to take them to go see it for fear they were missing out on the next big fad, before realizing nobody was talking about it at all. Their scheme almost worked.

I mean I... I... DELGO? In cowboy lasso font? What the hell were they thinking?

Doctor Who?

I have to say i have not see one add or poster for this movie, was the studio trying to lose money or something?

I am just surprised a movie no one knew about made on cent.

The worst part for the studio is that it's CGI so you know it cost them at least $100 million.

Oh and it looks stupid too.

Cartoon Network was airing lots of ads for this movie, but I don't remember seeing it advertised anywhere else. I'm afraid I can't get particularly excited about hating this movie without seeing it though, even if it does have Chris Kattan. It doesn't sound good, but it doesn't seem any worse than some of the other movies on that list. Has anybody actually watched this thing? Does it deserve to make less money than those others?

bratpop

So no movie has EVER made less than 2 million dollars on opening day?

The saddest part is that, according to Wikipedia, they've been working on this since 1999.

Ah, well. You make a crap movie, you derserve what you get.

Supposedly according to wiki, The Magic 7 comes out in two days, though I have no where. Maybe we can make a "Animated films that started production too long ago and some of the cast are now dead and they'll probably suck" double feature!
