Quote from: Isaac on December 01, 2008, 12:36:53 AMYoko Ono produced art albums that ended up influencing artists and genres.

You're living in a fantasy. You make Yoko Ono sound like The Velvet Underground. The difference is, the list of artists who cite V.U. as an influence actually exists.

Hmm, explains why so many people agreed to perform her songs for that tribute album.

By the way, I hate the Velvet Underground. Lou Reed and John Cale are pretentious hacks who think that Frank Zappa was the most untalented musician they ever heard. It requires a severe lack of intelligence to make a statement like "He can't play rock 'n roll because he's a loser" in reference to anyone, much less Zappa (who, for the record, COULD, in fact, play rock and roll, and did so).

There. Fixed it for ya.

Don't edit my quotes.

And Yoko Ono's first album, was, in fact, a clear influence on punk and new wave.

Quote from: bratpop on December 01, 2008, 03:21:46 PMIsaac, you bloody lunatic. I never said Yoko Ono and Mad Monster were the same thing. Just that they were both excruciating to the point that experiencing them at the same time could possibly kill you.

That was my point. You were comparing art albums you don't get to a bad monster movie. That doesn't work.

Art is subjective. Not enjoying something doesn't necessarily make it bad.

Conversely, something being bad and tedious doesn't make it art.

But that's an excuse to use when something fails to be interesting or even entertaining.   :)

MICROPHONE MANIAC COMING SOON!!

Well good thing Ol' Ridley learned his lesson. Wait, what's this?

Jesus ever loving Christ!

QuoteThe Hasbro-Universal collaboration "Monopoly" is jumping a large number of spaces up the board.

The feature project has brought on Pamela Pettler to write the screenplay; She penned Tim Burton's "Corpse Bride," Gil Kenan's "Monster House" and the upcoming animated adventure "9," produced by Burton and Timur Bekmambetov.

And Ridley Scott, who has been attached as a producer on "Monopoly" and has been mentioned as a possible director, is now officially attached to helm the project, with an eye toward giving it a futuristic sheen along the lines of his iconic "Blade Runner."

There are no words for this.

Killing me won't bring back your Goddamned honey!

God, why didn't I have that sound effect when Zardoz was around.

Doctor Who?

What about Titanic?

Oh and Indy 2 was my favorite movie.

I'm sorry but no matter how you spin it nothing is as stupid and surviving a nuke in a fridge, and aliens don't belong in an indy movie.

ridley scott directed gi jane.

He also directed Black Rain, Hannibal, White Squall, and A Good Year.  None of those were terribly good either.  :)

I think he fucked up Thelma & Louise too.

James Cameron also directed Pirahna 2.  Which is MST3k awful.

Indy IV is very far from my favorite flick in the franchise, but I'll take a million fridge nukings over the shrieking of Short Round and Kate Capshaw. And aliens are right at home in a 1950's B-movie, so I didn't have an issue with that.

It's possible they were just afraid that if they didn't participate, she'd break up their respective bands.
