Just wanted to say hello.

I've been lurking on these forums for a while, but haven't had the courage to post until now. (I'll explain why later.)

My official username (unless I come up with a better one) is RetroMovieNight, but if you prefer, you can call me RMN or address me by my real name, Ian. I've been a mistie since my junior high school years when the second-to-last season of MST3K was running on the Sci-Fi network. The show used to be the highlight of my entire weekend. I absolutely loved the concept of turning a dull/serious movie into a comedy. MST3K also helped me realize how much I had taken for granted in today's Hollywood pictures. All of a sudden, my least favorite films didn't seem so bad anymore. They all had a somewhat sensible plot and actual effort put into the work, something that you couldn't say for the films shown on MST3K. I'm surprised this effect hasn't happened to more people who follow the show. For a while, I was avoiding these forums because it seemed that everywhere I look, people were complaining left and right about every movie they saw, labeling it as the "worst movie ever" and whatnot. I didn't want to get lost in such a hateful crowd. (I'm just generalizing. I know not all of you are like that.)

Eventually though, I came to realize that you are not bad people. You just have very strong opinions. And that's cool with me. And since many of you seem like generally nice folks, I look forward to getting to know some of you and hopefully make a few new friends.
