...

Yeah, the first Fantastic Four movie really sucked. But, that hasn't stopped them from making the sequel:

The Rise Of The Silver Surfer

At least Jessica Alba is back, so there's something to look at besides special effects.
And be sure to look for Brian Posehn in a quick cameo as the priest!~

I was on the fence about this after the lousy first FF movie, but I have to say the teaser trailer has sold me. The Surfer looks very cool, and I'm so curious about how they're going to do this that I can overlook the first one.

I'm a huge FF nerd, so I'm looking forward to this one greatly.  The SS looks a little too like CGI at the moment, though perhaps it's my initial reaction.  I just can't wait to see what they've done with Galactus!  Thanks for the link.

Pak-Man

I actually enjoyed the first one. It was fun! Not supremely great, but it made me feel good watching it. They've given a lot of indication that they've heard the feedback about the first FF and they'll be fixing it this time around. Maybe the masses will sing the praises of the sequel. :^)

...and you didn't have an issue with the dude chasing him that was on fire?  ;P

(Sorry, I am pretty much ignorant when it comes to comic books. I couldn't tell you a single one of the Fantastic Four's names... I wanna say that guy made out of rock in called The Thing... but that just brings me back to Addams Family... or was that from The Munsters?)

Much like Pak-Man, I enjoyed the first one as well.  Not enough to watch it more than once or twice, but I liked it.  I think the trailer for this one looks pretty awesome.  Although, I also think that Ghost Rider looks pretty badass too, which I've heard lots of people say looks pretty bad.

k i really have a question.  will galactus even be in this one?  I mean he should be that doesnt mean anything.  I really have a sinking feeling that galactus wont arrive until the 3 or something.

Pak-Man

They're being a bit hazy on that point, but there've been several official sources that state he's in it.

Now whether they put him in as a last half-hour of the movie threat, or as a stinger after the credits remains to be seen. :^)

I seriously dont sense him.  You could say my crappy movie sense is tingling.

I thought that was the whole plot: The coming of Galactus, The Silver Surfer finally helping the FF, maybe even an appearance by The Watcher?

Geek senses tingling!  ;D

sarcasm_made_Easy

yes thats the plot of the overall COMIC.  Leave it to hollywood to butcher that.

Looks like a decent summer popcorn flick, probably exactly like the first one.

I don't like the overtly CG-looking Silver Surfer. It looks to be completely hand animated, not mo-cap. And they better not re-use the T2 morphing sound effects like X-Men did. Hey mainstream Hollywood, be original! For once in your life.

Also glad Alba's back, though I HATE those contacts...
I assume it's because her character is supposed to have blue eyes, or something, but I'm a sucker for brown eyes, and nothing irks me more than when a gorgeous woman with weak-knee-inducing brown eyes covers them with ugly blue contacts.  >:(

I really doubt Uatu will mkae an appearance. The movie way too goofy already with a silver guy on a flying surfboard and a yet-to-be-seen planet-eating cosmic entity. There's just no room for a giant-headed bald guy in a toga who just watches. I want to know what Jack Kirby was on when came up with this stuff.

The real questions are how will the do Galactus? (I could see some influence from Warren Ellis' Ultimate Galactus being incorporated.) And how will Doom feature in this? Because they screwed him up royally.

But you're okay with the unnaturally blonde hair and playing a scientist? ;) Jessica Alba's just wrong for the part every which way. I was at Borders with a friend and saw the Dark Angel DVDs on display. I said, "Look, it's back when Jessica Alba was still Mexican." Why does Hollywood feel the need to make beautiful ethnic women whiter?

Screw the millions of people it will alienate! I wants my Uatu!  ;D

The only piece of casting they really got right was Michael Chiklis as the Thing, though I would've liked to have seen a CG version of the character.
